Go into your google webmaster tools, pick your most popular forum - go to "your site on the web" - top search queries - right column

The name of that column should be - Clickthrough : Users clicked on your site in these searches

There should be 4 columns there, with this at the top of the columns - # % Query Position

How many #1 positions do you have?

My main forum has 60 #1 positions in that column.

5 are number one, but out of the 91 listed, only 13 fall off of page number 1 (Top 10 results)

Wow thats impressive - I have not really looked into all of this google stuff as my site is there just for my personal enjoyment but think it is almost time to actually look into this type of thing and try to get some higher rankings.

There are only 5 items listed, and of them, 3 are #1.

It takes time, lots and lots of time to build up that list. It will probably take you at least 2 years before you have all 100 slots filled in.

    I do this on a regular basis. I have 232 for tilersforums.co.uk.

It's very very good to use this tool as it shows you how searches work (sort of).

When I USED to make websites I'd pick several terms and rank #1 after some time and be happy. Now, unless I'm ranking #1 (or even 2nd if it's for a brand name that isn't mine and they have a good website) I HAVE to rank for at least 50. And it also helps related terms to your aimed-for term when you do that, as you'll rank somewhere in the first page for hundreds of terms, instead of just first for 5.

Thanks for posting that, lots will benefit from having a play with G's webmaster tools. If you don't know how to find webmaster tools, do a G'earch. :) ;) ;)

    It's been four years and I only have 51 : /

Still, over 30 are in the top spot and I rank in the top 10 for three major keywords (related to adult forums). 'Elliquiy' itself is slowly becoming a major keyword.
