For me as well, but do you mind elaborating why you have chosen Paid Software?

Free software for me, I just don't feel that over $100 to buy a forum software will get you much more than a free one. The only reason I would buy a paid one is for better support and more themes/mods.

Well if you dont have the money than I dont see a problem when their are great free alternatives such as MyBB or phpBB. But if money isn't the problem than why not.

These are the only paid software besides vB, IPB, and xF that I know of.

Paid, support and such is great. (If you have active license). But only good thing about free software is that they all listen to their community fan base. Cause they would be nothing if they didnt. Paid wouldn't really have to listen or not cause they got money. But they do, mostly. xD IPB is fairly decent with their fan base.

Any forum provider has to listen to their fan-base. Free or paid. Neither can listen to everyone but all have to listen to what the majority wants.

You are correct, but some more and less then the other. Free sort of winds the lead in that category.

free forums are better because you don't have to pay per month or year. I like freeforums.org.

We are talking about the forum software, not the forum hosts. Anyhow, I would'nt say FF are running phpBB3 any more, as the code base is too customised and the only thing that looks like phpBB3 now is the installed styles...

Yea I agree, but when you pay for something it is better.. for example ticket support where you get personal support and you don't need to post on the forums publicly and you get help directly from staff. But I never use tickets, I prefer forums.
