Favicons - Animated vs Non Animated?

Which do you prefer? Personally I prefer animated favicons, it is shame they dont constantly rotate because that really could be used to attract people back to your site when theyre on other sites.

I really like non-animated favicons, though it would be cool if it automatically changed to animated when there's a new post, or private message!

We also have an Apple Touch Icon for people that bookmark on an iPod Touch or iPhone - .

 

The only animation I've seen on favicons so far consisted of simple scrolling, which I find about as pointless as a revolving logo. If anyone ever finds instructions on how to do something more substantial, I'd love to hear it.
