Yes, in fact I'll be doing some email marketing on this forum as soon as I get some time. I know of places that you can buy email list for a targeted niche.

IDK TBH, I've never purchased one
I just know they are around and you can get them pretty targeted.

Sending unsolicited advertisement e-mail is called "spamming" and is illegal in most countries. Make sure the receivers of such e-mail have explicitly opted in to receiving your advertisements, and have a way to opt out of it.

Email marketing is very risky and can get you labeled a spammer, as the post above states. You really dont want that. Yeah I would only do a newsletter with a link to opt out type deal, otherwise you put yourself at risk of hurting your mail server for the future to come.

E-mail marketing is risky, and if you don't follow the double-opt process and you also have your address at the bottom + an opt-out option, theres an opp for you to be sued with every e-mail that you send.

A lot of e-mail marketing is BlackHat, and buying E-mail Lists etc is technically illegal if they haven't opted in. Those viagra spammers, use e-mail marketing to you know.

There are opt in email list ;)

And you are correct, you have to give your users a way to opt out.
It's really not that risky, I know companies that have used targeted email list & had good results.
