Just curious for those vbulletin users who are thinking of switching over. Are you thinking about making the switch. I bet if IPB knocked off a few dollars off their suite they would gain alot more interest.

I hope they do, because now, vBulletin costs the same much for a license, 235 dollars.

No switching sw does not appeal to me right now.

Time = $. And I've got much time invested getting to the point I am now.

Staying with vb 3.8, sounds much more appealing at this particular moment.

I think if they did a promotion very very soon there just might be quite a few people ready to make the switch and purchase a quality package. I've always like IPB but refrained due to moving to a new styling system.

We'll see though I'm quite sure IPB have been known to run promotions from time to time I just think it would be a lost opportunity to not run one at this moment in time. It would make good financial sense I suppose.

Yes, there have been mistakes in what IB has done with this debacle, but why would people want to jump ship so quickly?

If you don't upgrade to the Suite, it's nearly the same as before, if you keep your license current, right? Or am I completely missing something?

Yes, it costs quite a lot to upgrade to their Publishing Suite, but no one is saying you NEED to do that.

I'll go back and re-read everything, but I'm sure not ready to jump ship.

Chani, there is no option to keep your existing license current anymore. The only thing than can be purchased is 4.x forums & suite, which would keep your existing license current.

    It's much different now

I see that now. I misread the message in my admincp.

    Okay, that REALLY sucks. :(

I'm still not jumping ship. It will just cost me more than I wanted. :(

I've started to consider it for new projects, and maybe, and this is a big maybe, switching some of the slower forums over. The big forums I have now, I do not want to change. Upgrades are a big enough pain when working with clusters, let alone switching software. I noticed they talked about a discount for switching, if it is good enough I may pick up a few licenses. Can never have enough spares.

From my understanding, and unless I missed something it goes like this. If you have an active license when vb4 comes out, you get access to it. However, once that license expires, you get no more updates for vb4. You will have to buy it, and it sounds like at full price. If you upgrade now, you can get a discount.

Yes, I see that now. :o

I may have a source of the money I'll need to two of my licenses, but it will be a stretch to upgrade all six right now. :(

I've counted about 138+ switches to IP.Board since it came out.

I could comment on IB's prolific business practices, but I'd rather not bore everyone with statistics. :p

It would be more appealing to us if we never tried it before and ended up loathing it, im glad we got a taste of it earlier instead of jumping to get it with all this vb mess.

John from Transverse Styles purchased this site yesterday. IPB Setup

John is one of the best, if not the best, vB designers there is. If HE has decided to develope the IPB side of Transverse Styles, that tells me something.

Well, actually I don't loathe it, I just can't get on with it at all.

I think this is something we can ultimately agree on. John is a well established and sound business person and most of all which I hold in high regards a trustworthy person which is far and very few these days.

The only thing that is keeping me at bulletin is the fact that many have tried to drive me away and I'm prity stubborn and will remain with them when I choose to leave. Suffice to say trust was never there with myself and vbulletin though IPB is another story when I was using their software many years ago. This was a company that is not only trustworthy but don't dilute information and come out with half assed lies on admin boards.

This is the moment where I tell you....

    "I TOLD YOU SO"

"TRY BEFORE YOU BUY? I THINK NOT"
" 7 BRIDES FOR SIX SCREENSHOTS" LOL

Am I ever wrong? :D Lies and flase information will tell you the character of a person and to think my character was in question. Don't make me laugh I stand by and embrace truth. LOL

Yehawwwwwwwwwww Back on the roller-coaster or wait for some billy bullshit to grace us with some exciting news. Anyway. Hello everybody, I'm doctor nick?

pfffttt, we agree on more stuff than you realize ;)

Oh I do not blame you. I'd never let anyone drive me away, and they have been after you for a while.

    :speechless: lol, you're wacky girl.
