I had to stick a member in the moderated usergroup as he was being increasingly nasty and complaining about everyone else's "fluff" posts... meanwhile contributing nothing of value of his own. Naturally his lone remaining buddy chimed in to say "fifty percent of this forum is BS". I've deleted any posts in which he was attacking members, but wonder whether I should let the criticism stand. I've been working to raise the good post to fluff post ratio, so in that sense the criticism is valid. It might possibly make other members think before they post... or turn them off. What's your experience been?

The only posts I personally ever delete are spam and members attacking each other. I don't delete criticism of the site.

We get criticism now and then and expecting more too. We tend to leave it up as it is usually new members who do these kinds of threads trying to bring down the forum and such, it never works as our members simply argue back.

We had someone recently sign up called "Pi**ed off adult" and this is what they had to say:

How adult can you get? This person obviously was an idiot. We of course had something to say as did our members, what kind of adult really says this kind of crap?

Yep, their user name and the way they acted says it all, a complete joke if they really are an adult. Fair enough people may ask questions that have obvious answers but doesnt the whole world on a daily basis and there is no need to be so rude, immature and nasty to everyone about it.

They didnt come back after we replied and our members did.

    Depends on how its posted.

If its clearly just designed to troll, then it will get removed. If it breaks any of the general posting rules (swearing etc) it will be dealt with like any other post.

If it doesnt get zapped by the above, it will generally stay.

Honestly trying to bring down a forum usually unites it. It's not just good policy to leave it up, it's downright healthy.

I can pretty much say the same.

If somebody truly dislikes something about the site or has a legitimate complaint, I have no reason to sweep that under the rug. But if it turns into trolling or harassment (You fu***rs don't know how to run a forum. I am sure this sh**hole will fail with your sh***y team of moderators) then it will be removed.

Some think it was all the public criticism that resulted in much reduced activity over at the Prohibited Link.

I'm sure people left on their own. That place is so uptight. Are we talking about the same site?

I'm talking about the one that was for sale... not sure what's happening with it, I don't think the reserve was met. Or something.

Oh AdminFusion. That's not who I was talking about. You can mention that one here. LOL anything that shouldn't be said is censored - and there's only one site that is. :D

Will (Will Spencer) is the high bidder and as soon as Eric's partner approves the sale, it's a done deal.

Normally, it would be - as it's a competing site - but it's dead right now, so I don't think we have much to lose.

I haven't had much but have allowed it to stay. One of the major criticisms of my competitors boards is that they delete/close threads whimsically.

I just move stuff to either a hidden forum or non guest viewable forum.

To be honest, yes, but sometimes it converts to drama I would close the thread and tell them to take it on PM. But if it's staff related that is a certain NO in public, staff drama is never good.

I allow it all to stay up, as it gives me something to strive to beat, or strive to make it better!
