Do you ask for more licenses in lieu of gifts?

Lately, whenever asked what I want for Christmas or birthday presents, I've been telling my family to get me more software licenses. Better than asking for a bunch of physical stuff that will only clutter up my tiny house. Have you become so much of an addict that vB or IPB licenses are all you want?

Not really, revenue takes care of that. I'd be worried if I started spending more time on communities, this place is already corrupting me haha

Never, I see online activities to show offline clients my work. And, on the offchance online friends/associates benefit from it. I think unless you making an income with multiple licenses something is wrong that you warrant more licenses to spend your time in the virtual world.

If I need a license there and then I'll purchase it not ask for a license for a gift. That said, my first license came from creating some graphics for someone for exchange of a license.

I wouldn't, and I would naturally think it's a sign of desperation... but in your case, I can see how it's not crazy.

I mean if there's nothing else that you want (or have room for) then there's no point in receiving gifts that won't be beneficial to you as much as a script license.

No I do not really, but how ever this year I feel bad even asking for anything knowing what my dad has brought me. I accidentally found it the other day in the attic. I get all excited thinking about it ;D

You got me curious now what did he buy you? lol - I ask for licenses from my wife or something as her and I do alot of trading on the internet, purchases etc etc and anything I want I really buy - however with her seem if I want something I buy it I just tell her to buy me another license for something.

I would not expect family or friends to buy me anything. I feel uncomfortable if they do. It only puts a pressure on me to buy them something in return and I'm no good at that at all.

No. My family wouldn't purchase licenses for me anyway. One year, I did ask for Circuit City gift cards so I could purchase a new computer. It didn't happen because "gift cards are impersonal and not real gifts." If it can't be wrapped and unwrapped my parents and family won't buy it.
