Hey everyone! I thought I'd introduce myself. I got my username from a video game (I'm such a geek sometimes...lol). Since I'm from Georgia, I thought I could incorporate "peach" somewhere in my username. Ma Belle Peche is the nickname that the villain gave to one of his victims...kinda creepy I know, but it still makes for a good name online...lol.

I'm not really all that interesting...lol. I love my husband, my dogs, my cat. I love to cross-stitch and crochet (although I'm not so good with the crocheting). I also obviously love video games and I'm a big fan of Jeopardy...lol.

I look forward to meeting everyone here and if anyone has questions about the Savannah area, I can answer them! I grew up in a small community about 45 minutes north of Savannah, so I'm very familiar with the area.

Welcome Ma Belle Peche! Glad you joined us! What video game did you get your name from? There are a few of us geeks here, so you won't be alone. :)

What kind of video games do you like? My current favorites are Halo, Guild Wars and DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). I also like the Tony Hawk series, as well as racing style games. :)

I can Crochet a bit myself, but I never got that into it, so I just do the basic pattern. lol

    Hi and Welcome!

Someone on my book forum recently posted something about cross-stitch, which I thought you might like to look at...

Welcome Ma Belle Peche! Another Georgian...Mamacita is from the Atlanta area. I've never been to Savannah, but I've heard it's beautiful.

I do cross-stitching myself. I learned to crochet a long time ago, but have since forgotten.

Hope you can come and get to know us all a lot better.

Welcome, Ma Belle Peche, I loved Savannah. It's a neat town esp for a history buff like me. Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Liz

    Xenosaga!

I like RPGs and adventure games. I like a lot of different stuff actually. The only thing I don't get into is first person shooters and I think that's just because they make me feel sick to play them. My favorite games are Xenosaga, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, and the entire Metal Gear Solid series. I like Tony Hawk too. Skateboarding is fun as long as I don't actually have to get on a skateboard..lol.

*slaps her head* Xenosaga! I should have known! lol It's been a while since I played it. I never got that far though cause it couldn't hold my interest.

I can't get into the Metal Gear Solid series either. My brother and boyfriend can, but I never could for some reason.

    :welcometotheforum: Peche--

I'm the *other* Georgia girl here...though I'm Georgia via sunny San Diego.

Dh and I love Savannah. Especially Tybee Island. We "discovered" it about 13 years ago when we went there for our Anniversary. Sadly, it's become so expensive, we don't go as often as we used to :(

I don't crochet, but I do knit...and spin my own yarn. If you can find a "Stitch N Bitch" group in your area, you'll find lots of people who will be more than happy to help you with your crochet or knitting.

Again, welcome! Hope to see you around lots!

    Hiya, and welcome.

I'm the gardener from SW Michigan. Oh, and I deliver express mail for DHL. Married to a brit and we have 3 dogs and 2 cats. As soon as things settle down a bit we want to travel, so maybe we'll be seeing you.

Expensive to travel or expensive in Savannah? My hubby and I are struggling right now financially. There isn't enough money in this town to live off of.

I'd be happy to give you a tour! I know all the historic stuff like the back of my hand...lol.

BOTH! LOL!! With gas at nearly $3.00 per gallon, it's oh, three times the cost just to make the trip there and back as it was a couple years ago, and the motor hotel rooms that used to cost us $49.95 per night now cost $189 per night and that's in November!

I feel your pain on the financials...I was laid off in January and still haven't found a job! I'm a phlebotomy tech and there just isn't enough work to go around. So, I'm having to revert to my old skills as an admin--which totally SUCKS!

A slightly belated welcome, Ma Belle Peche! :D

What's your favorite thing about living in Savannah? I had a co-worker who grew up there and she always talked about how wonderful it was.

Don't laugh...it's the trees! Live Oak trees are absolutely beautiful. They are huge, but they grow very slowly so any sizeable Live Oak you see (which is a lot of them) has been around for about 100 years. Here's a photo gallery of my favorite tree right here in Savannah. It's believed to be at least 300 years old:

The limbs of this tree have grown so long that they've begun to grow back down to the ground and in some places, look as if they will re-root. You may think I'm crazy, but the energy that this tree gives off is amazing. I've petted this tree and talked to it.
