For those of you who are depressed...

Does everyone in your life know about it? Have you tried to get help? Does anything work?

If you hide it, how do you hide your depression?

What steps have you taken so far in regards to your depression?

After dealing with depression for years, I finally decided to get help back in 2000.

My family was surprised when I told them how I had felt because I often acted happier than I actually was. Before getting the help, I smiled a lot and didn't say many negative things about my life and the world because I was too afraid to let anyone know how I really felt and thought.

You are truly lucky then, I suspect you do know some one who surfers from depression its the biggest health problem for the western world now, bigger than obesity.

you're right - I know one person who suffers from deep depression so I can tell alot about this illness.....

Is this problem bigger than obesity? To be honest, I'd make them equally big....

When I get depressed, I like to self medicate with drugs and alcohol. The idea is to bottle up all my feelings and emotions, then bury them deep down inside so they can cultivate a mental disorder that won't be apparent till later in life. I'm no psychologist, but the whole thing seems pretty healthy to me.

Alcohol will not let you out of anything tbh. It will make all things worse. And it will ruin your life. Niot to mention you will surely end up homeless, as you will spend all earned money on drinking.

Wonko is right - you need help. Drinking is not wise thing to do.

Hmm I don't know, the people in beer commercials seem pretty happy...

Oh, and no need to fret over three dirty Frenchmen, this place is teeming with activity as it is!
