I'm wondering if anybody has any recommendations for a vb 4 theme. Obviously, there's not much development in this area these days. I like the look of a couple of vbstyles and bluepearl skins but haven't used either and would appreciate the community's comments/experiences

Bulletin 4 is EoL in terms of development so if you buy a style from anyone it should last a lifetime assuming it works now because it'll never need updating. I've not used a Bluepearl skin but I am familiar with them and they look fairly decent. They appear to be a more than simple StyleVar edits but nothing too radical.

As far as I can tell there's no framework involved but quite likely some custom template work going on which would be something to be considered if vB 4 was still being developed (which it isn't).

Bottom line; if you like a theme and the demo works then you can't really lose even if the developer disappears because the theme is unlikely to need upgrading.

I'm not sure if any of this helps but if you want more specific advice just ask, I have a lot of experience with vB 4 styling.

Many thanks zappa. There are things I like and dislike about both theme makers I mentioned. As you say, the EOL status is something I hadn't thought of before. No yearly update fees is good.
