which one is the best value for the buck?

    some questions
--> how much does a skin cost to make in XF?
---> does xF have the reoccurring $25 fee like IPB does or is it like vBulletin if you buy the license, you get all the updates?

    Thanks.

XF has a yearly renewel of $40 I believe (I haven't checked in a while). Cost of styles are dependent on who you go with and whether you want custom or something available - the premade styles go from $10 up to around $40.

The 25 dollar renewal fee for IPB is per 6 months so its 50 dollars a year. Custom skins range from 250 to well anything you like its about the same with IPB.

Why do IPS do it on a 6 monthly cycle for? Only they seem to use that selling forum software.

Yes IPB's renewal is every 6 months BUT

if you look at it this way(it's $25 every 6 months) and winds up being only 10 dollars more than XF($40)
Most users just pay annually because you can add money to your account so just add the $50 to your account once a year and everytime it renews it deducts the $25

    See...there's your "yearly" renewal.

I'd also probably say you get more bang for your buck with IPB @TSUFanatic

If you are betting on the future of your forum, your best bet is XF, regardless of any cost you might incur.

Yeah I share that same sentiment :) Though there are some sites that do have a unique feel to them.

IPB is slightly more expensive though i learned that you get what you pay for and the price is kind of negligible as well and there are a few extras you get with the active IPB license and what not.

I can explain until I am blue in the face... in the end, it will be just my opinion though. If you are truly interested in comparing, your best bet is to just demo each and see what fits your needs. You have to do what is best for you and your community. Myself, again, my opinion... if I wanted to have long term success with a forum, I'd lean towards XF.

Can't that be said about all software? To me, all VB looks the same, all IPB looks the same, all WBB looks the same, all XF looks the same. Unless you put in the time needed to be creative, they all start off the same, and not everyone is willing to invest the time into undertaking the task of doing something different. Color changes and widening a couple categories just won't do enough to make anything unique, and again that goes for ANY software.

I seriously don't understand this. I honestly get the same feeling with all forum software (yes, including XF) ... nothing is really "unique" about any of them visually or structurally, unless you put in the time to get it unique.

    Congrats!

I hope enjoy it. I am not a Pro when it comes to IPB but if you need anything feel free to shoot me a PM or something and I can try to help :)

IPB created 4 different invoices when I bought the license apparently and is still payment under review. This is outrageous tbh.

Why is it outrages. You are just flagged in the system for some reason or they manually approve all transactions, you just have to wait till its approved.
