I see this thread was completely productive, as evidenced by the vbseo website no longer being registered.

Exactly. Lots of talk about helping customers, yet, when the site goes dark nigh a word is spoken.

Maybe someone should call/skype Ilya, hope she is ok :) She was going through court-case or other law troubles..... Wonder how it ended - or is it underway..... if she was dethronized and she sued co-owner (correct me if Im wrong), she may have problems going deep into her status as a free person..... dont know - just guessing.....

So when Ilia & Joe were posting they were attacked, and now, with it looking like Juan & vBSEO really has folded in upon itself, it is a problem that Ilia & Joe aren't posting? O.o

Yes it is because what they posted was telling everyone that they where behind the customers and where doing everything they could to help customers. I wasn't involved in the discussion, but, from reading through it seemed as though Joe and Illia where here to tell everyone that they were pursuing paths to make sure vbseo customers would never be left without support.

If you read all of the responses then you also saw that some of those same customers told them to basically buzz off. As the old axiom goes, people should be careful what they ask for.

The answer is because she was trying to use her brother's intellectual property to avoid having to invent her own product, something she is clearly and convincingly incapable of doing. If she was she'd have spent the last year or longer developing a functional product as opposed to lamenting the self-imposed demise of an existing one to which she has no legal claim. The fact is that Google has changed its algorithm and no longer focuses on what vBSEO optimizes in any case, so even a functional product is at best useless and at most detrimental to a website. The focus of the Hummingbird / Penguin algorithm is original content. As no SEO program writes unique content no SEO program is of use. Backlinks, once a major factor in search engine ranking, are now highly discouraged. Search engines typically ignore keywords. Friendly URLs are built-in to forum software. There would be no purpose whatsoever to a functional vBSEO product as the product existed. That's the underlying root cause to believe there is no truth to any of the claims in this thread or elsewhere as to anyone attempting to restore vBSEO on behalf of the existing customer base.

From what I know, it was nothing more then Joe & Ilia bringing a family squabble to the public eye. They had no intention of helping anyone, only themselves. On its face the whole thing is stupid. As prosports pointed out, the product is useless at best in today's SEO. If there was a reasonable claim here why has it been 4-5 years since we've heard anything from them after they left vBSEO? They only sought to embarrass Juan and maybe get the vbseo customer list for themselves.

I think there is no point discussing changes etc here unless vbseo goes open-source.

No, she never got far enough to infringe upon anything. The most she was able to do was to garner public sympathy from a few very gullible vBSEO customers who gave her the benefit of the doubt despite all evidence to the contrary.
