I think this was first mentioned about 4 or 5 years ago. Odd it took them so long.

I would assume that you could get your data if you decide to leave. As long as you leave attachments in the database you can dump the data in the admin.

They can't even run their own official websites, vb.com and vb.org and they expect me to trust them to run mine?

    Ok now some questions.

If someone signs up I import my database or is this for new setups only?

If its for new startups online do they expect anyone to sign up for a package higher then the $14.99 starter pack? (I don't see ANY starter forum doing above 25GB for a LONG LONG time.

Does it come with vBulletin or do I need to buy that as well?

If I move to the vb cloud will vb import my current forum into the Cloud and at what cost?

Who owns the database? If I want to move off of vBulletin Cloud can I move my site or is it gone forever?

If I decide to move off of vb cloud how hard will it be for me to move my site to another host?

What is the SLA? Do I get credits for down time?

What is the specs of the servers you are using? Are these just simple computers or high quality setups complete with raid setups?

What is my bandwidth speed to the net? Sure 25 GB is great, but if its being served from a 28.8 modem it does no good.

Where is your acceptable use policy? Where are your terms and condition?

Do I get access to my admin control panel or do I need to submit and pay for a ticket for you to do simple admin functions for me?

Can I SSH it my account?

Do you offer any kind of control panel so that we can control our site?

Will we have access to a mailer demon so that our notifications can go out? If yes would these mails be from a special domain or can we use our own domain?

Do you support SSL connections? If yes how much to add SSL support?

Am I able to use Plugins and other 3rd party add ons?

You give 25 GB of Bandwith but you give 100GB os drive space. Does that mean your bandwidth count is only on outgoing data and not incoming data?

Can you opt out of Automatic upgrades? With vBulletins track record a lot of us like to wait and see how others do with the upgrades before we risk upgrading out own site.

How long is ticket turn around?

How much is each ticket submitted?

What kind of security do you have to protect my forum?

Is my information secure? Who can view or access my database? I have some private forums which require NDA's for people to access, I do not want vb staff getting bored and deciding to poke around in my database and accessing this classified information.

Is support available 24/7? Or if something happens to my site off hours do I need to wait for you guys to go to work again?

In case of server failure how long does it take for you to get the site running again on another server?

Am I able to use vBulletin 4 series or it is only for vb5?

If this new hosting service is so great why is it not being used on vBulletin.com and .org?

Thats about all I can think of at the moment.

Since AWS is running the cloud, I think it should be OK.

I will answer when I can be sure of the answers- what I can tell you now is they are using Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers- they are not being hosted in house at Internet Brands.

Support will use the existing forum and/or ticket system if eligible.

You cannot opt out of upgrades.

It is only for VB5, not VB4.

You do have access to Admin CP- the vast majority of it anyway- some portions that won't be applicable won't be available.

More questions will hopefully get answered today or tomorrow when the official announcements hit vBulletin.com, I kind of jumped the gun creating this thread- sorry about that.

Do you have access to dump the data if you decide to move to another host?

How is the style system going to work? There will have to be a way to upload the images for new styles so is there FTP access as well?

Thanks Joe. I don't think you Jumped the gun since it was listed on their homepage.

I think they should mention that they are using AWS in their promo material. Having the AWS name there is a positive in my book.

    You say...
Can you provide some details of what won't be available?

I see that for Email they want you to set your SMTP settings to use an external SMTP server and mention (and give instructions) for using GMAIL and Yahoo's SMTP services.

That's standard if they don't sent up a mail server to be used for customers although I think others that provide this do have a mail server setup for clients.

It is starting to look like this is half baked and not well thought out.

    Thanks for answering.
Will Internet Brands / vbulletin place any advertisements on cloud sites?

    Oh, Lord!

So, basically, every few months they can totally screw-up your site, and you can't opt out from them doing that - lol.

I've created a test installation here. Payment was easy, only took 5 minutes.

You can bring your own domain name, or, as I have, used a subdomain of vulletin.net.

Just getting into the admin interface now. Let me know if anybody would like to register and have moderator permissions.

No its not released, but look at the website http://morallybankrupt.vbulletin.net/ it runs vBulletin 5.0.6 but vBulletin.com runs 5.0.5 so what is different or new and why has this version not made availible to the license holders.

No CMS, a lot of the same bugs I see reported on vbulletin.com. Some strange error message pop-ups, and then screen refreshes, but just a couple. Speed isn't too bad.

Because 5.0.6 mostly only has customization required for VB Cloud. The few minor fixes that can benefit everyone are in 5.1.0.
