You mean the one that crashes if you view a thread with a latin character in it?

Or is it the one that crashes when you view a thread with quoted text that is in a color?

Or are they talking about some new product that actually works?

On a side note, how long do you think they upgrade to vB5 will take? I seem to remember the vB4 upgrade taking them days to complete.

And from the official vBulletin.com/faq section

Does this mean that all URL's have changed?

I am extremely dissapointed with the presented vB5

ıt runs so slow , i can't easily find which page i am located at , when pages loaded , they are loaded broken and then css corrects things up etc.. Tons of issues and yet again they put the script on sale with al these tons of issues.

I really wanted vB5 be good from day 1 so we could decide to upgrade our big boards. Right now i will not even care to create a test version and upgrade to vB5 as it is far away from usable state.

I'm looking at the demo now: https://www.vbulletin.com/vb5demo/

Seems to run very slow, first thing I've noticed. But it's early days yet and vB4 was same at first, but now runs just as fast as XenForo. Style is a vast improvement over vB4. Just registered, why are they using the old vBulletin "Image Captcha" for in this new vBulletin 5 product, it's been broken since back in vB3 days. It's useless protecting against spammers and should have been ripped out vB5 completely (as useless).

Reading the many issues others are already talking about on the test board in replies. I've spotted something small right away myself. No biggy, but when hovering mouse over this link, why does the underline span right across up to the number block and not just the text getting underlined. For that matter, why are they using underline link styling in some places like "Menu Tabs" were it's not needed.

CSS appears to be getting loaded slow as well, page loads and things look messed up for a second before corrected by CSS. Again, related to things getting loaded to slow out of sync. I'm finding navigating to forum posts is quite confusing at first, thought "Latest Threads" was forum listings, or a thread getting replies. Things as a whole do seem a little confusing like Mert said.

Early days yet, lets hope they take the feedback on-board.

With the showing of VB5 -- I just easily decided that I'm not making any movement on any forum software for a long time to come.

I cannot believe they let that go public... Sure, they'll probably take feedback but I doubt they are going to change the core design. I've gone back to that demo site a few times, thinking maybe I'm just being to judgmental. Nope. Could I really recommend that to anyone? Nope.

If push came to shove for a recommendation or new project, it would have to be IPB for now.

Well, I've just spotted that Shamil is running a faster demo on his server. Still not great with speed, but better than vBulletin demo. Might be a case that vBulletin's Demo site is getting overloaded with visitors going there at the moment.

    Link: http://shamil.co.uk/connect

I've spotted another problem there. I clicked a thread and the option to reply using the "large reply button" in the top bar. I got a drop-down message box saying "Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page" (hello, I'm viewing it), and now when I scroll up to first post part of it is cut off by that message box and it's not auto closing itself either. In fact I cannot close it at all afterwards while in that thread.

Each page use around 95 - 120 queries. Did you realized that ? It is highly the main cause of the issue.

I suppose they'll tell folk it's still Beta version, yet looks like they've put it up for sale (obviously). They really did need to come up with an ACE from the word go after the vB4 fiasco and XF being a threat, along with IPB constantly getting a stronger hold on their forum market as a result. I doubt this is going to go down well will most vB customers, think they expected much, much better even as Beta version. It's more like an early Alpha version that shouldn't be getting sold just yet.

Way too slow for using, way too many obvious bugs people are spotting right away off the bat.

I like the look of it compared to vB4, but think some sections could be changed a little to look "less sparse" and help solve the confusing navigation issue happening because of it. They need to bring in a top experienced theme style maker to help give them ideas and polish it off. They use underline on links in the TABS when they shouldn't be used there really, not needed and would look better not getting underlined there.

Another confusing problem spotted on Shamil's demo board. He's disabled registration to join, so tried to vote as guests in this thread. Really, I should have been shown a message saying "I must be logged in to vote" after choosing NO and trying to vote. But this is what I see instead given out, very confusing because I did choose "No" as option to go with (as a guest).

But this message given is telling me I didn't choose an option?

Oh! I can't wait now for Mark.B to come blowing his vB5 trumpet (I'm on the Alpha testing team) again. What's he been doing all this time, just twiddling his thumbs playing with it? It's took me 2 hours to spot a number of (very obvious) language text mistakes based on forum permission to use that feature.

I guess we gotta wait for the final product before making any decisions.

Though it seems eerily similar to the vB4 fiasco already. A hefty upgrade cost from vB4->vB5. A presale where at least there is a viewable demo this time, but it's a complete disaster.

Just found out a thread was deleted apparently at vBulletin that Digital Point posted in, now so called put back again. But it was screen captured and posted up here for some comments: http://www.technolog...5-connect-beta/

Thing is, IB don't seem to realize they cannot pull the wool over people's eyes. There are too many expert forum owners out there like Digital Point (Shawn Hogan), who know how things should work code wise. Too many HTTP requests, too many different CSS class getting loaded for one page, too many queries, frightening what's been said. The list goes on and on showing IB's total failure with vB5, selling another duff product. Sad, but true it seems!

Also now read they've changed access to support desk or something, charging extra for that now after 3 months.

It appears as if they have begun moderating all new posts in the presales forum. At least for unlicensed customers any way. I had a question and now it's not there :!

You might have been caught by their Anti-Spam feature used at vBulletin. When I sold my vB license and was moved out customer usergroup into regular "unlicensed usergroup". Ever since all my posts on vBulletin go straight into moderation queuing (same account). I think it's their Anti-Spam used doing it when in that usergroup, as Wayne Luke told me in PM when complaining about it, that they wasn't doing it with any of my posts on purpose. That's why I stopped posting on vBulletin, every-time my posts go straight into moderation queuing and can be days before they appear on forums. Bit late by then!

Been reading more on other sites posted about vB5. Couldn't agree more with what one person said below. And going from what I've read posted by just about everyone on XenForo, Admin Extra, and vBulletin itself. One image springs to mind. awww.adminaddict.net_data_MetaMirrorCache_144311feef1751873951b95b71351c55.gif

XenForo = Dead Product (not being developed anymore)
vBulletin 5 = "Triple" Epic Failure (going from what everyone is saying)
IPB = Only one left worth buying into.

Matt Mecham , must think he's died and gone to heaven today, then served cream cakes. He must be jumping up and down with joy. They've never been in such a fantastic situation with paid forum competition to take advantage ASAP. Expect an early Xmas IPB bumper discount very soon!

Bit off Topic, but I see you've got yourself into an argument with AzzidReign on Admin Extra, with David jumping in as well. AzzidReign - claims he's not a moaner about forum software, trying asking him how much he moaned before about IPB on that forum "Admin Extra" and others prior to him switching to XenForo. Nobody moaned about IPB, more than he did for somebody claiming they don't like *drama*. LMAO!

I didn't really have an argument with him, I simply told he was abusive. That was that.

But you are right, he did go on and on about Invision, I may be tempted to dig out his thread on the subject actually.

There's a very long thread on AX in which he never shut about IPB putting it down. If it was me, I'd link back to it and slap him down a peg or two. Because he's just as bad as anyone else for moaning. He, of all people. Can't call anyone. If I'm right, he even got banned from IPB.
