Thanks. I didn't like IPB for years. My wife it installed on her site and when I did the admin work for her I liked it even less. Then IB basically thumbed their noses at all customers so I decided to give IPB a chance. v3 which where I came in was way better than v2 my wife used. v3.1 was even better and now 3.2 is the best there is right now.
Certainly this a lot more usable then IPB has ever been, I think this style improves on their default considerably as well. Additionally, since I believe IPB uses CKEditor, how come their's is so good and vB's is...errrmm... For starters, in Chrome vB's editor gives me a silly yellow box around the editor, which vB have said can't be avoided. Errm, except of course it doesn't do it on here....
Only thing I think you should do is go back to AdminAddict's original, distinctive logo. The current one is a bit..."meh"...could be any site on the internet. If you could take their original logo and match it to the new default style that would look cool.
IPS skinned the editor a bit, that's why it's looking better than the vB one. vBulletin it's just using the default CK skin, they're too lazy for custom work...
I would go as far as to say that IPB's editor is now the best of the lot. I see they also took the XenForo idea of having the user's avatar next to the editor (something I have also done on vB, though I am still pre-CK.)
I think the CKEditor used here better like you say in IPB 3.2, shows how XenForo could make great use of it and ditch that free crappy TinyMCE. I don't get why they stick with TinyMCE still, they are only singling themselves out as using the worst Text Editor of the three main forum products (IPB 3, vB 4 and XenForo). It would make more common sense to do away with that XenForo "Handicap" and use the the same CKEditor as the other two. Many people will choose forum software purchased based upon the text editor it uses, it would be better for XenForo overall to "neutralize that risk" to work in their own favour by using CKEditor.
Although some would say I'm biased, the fact of the matter is AA's custom theme and logo was designed before I even came on-board and I too like it. It's already recognizable and known in the forum community and it would be great if it could be adapted into this new style.
So I am late in the game, but I accidentally hit the wrong button and landed here, and boy, what a refresh. Nice job AWS
I agree, it actually has "brand value", and there's not that many forums can say that. Come on AWS, get the old logo adapted for this style.....give AA its identity again!
Thanks Tony. Here is a copy of the original logo if you want something to go by. All this really needs is to have the blue made transparent. View attachment 2088
I was looking at the IPB default theme to base it off (blue colour). LOL Hold on, let me offer a another version that better suits that black theme. I moved the logo down a touch as well to be more centred
