If you had 5 million to spend on advertising...

If you had a budget of 5 million to spend on adveritisng - what would you do? Would you buy text links, banners ads or what?

 

Can I use it to buy my competition?

I would purchase some advertising on related websites for targeted traffic, hold some huge contests, and perhaps try some Google AdWords campaigns. (AdWords never seems to work for me unless you bid super-high)

 

I would get on public transportation with that $ in a suitcase, and tell all the people on the plane about my site, before landing in Aruba. ; )

 

I wouldn't do a dang thing but live off the interest :lol:

 

$5 million?

Um...if it were my money, to be honest, I wouldn't be trying to run a big forum. A few small ones, maybe, but I'd use that money for other business and hobby purposes.

If it were someone else's money...I guess I'd take out an ad or ads in other industry related print mags or a banner ads on big industry sites.

 

Sugar, if I had $5 million, it sure ain't advertising I'd be spending it on....

If you have 5 million and plan to spend it all on ads = not very smart IMO unless you really know what you're doing.
maybe the question would of been more realistic if you said 5,000$

 

I would hire some professional video makers to make me some videos.

From there, I would fly them to do interviews with professionals in certain fields.

Post the videos on youtube.

Then buy some "Promoted Video" spots on youtube.

 

Same here. The site would have to be worth in double figure millions to warrant that amount of advertisement spending. *Remembers the great microsoft commercials* that always ended up being taken off the air.
