Something strange about youtube video views

Over the past few weeks I have noticed something strange about the number of views my youtube videos have been getting.

Sunday evening around around 3:30 pm central time I posted a video on youtube, by 8:00 pm is had received around 309 views. From around 8:00pm - 10:00pm the view count was not updated at all - it was like the video received 0 views for those 2 hours.

From around 8:00 pm central us time to 8:00 am the view count is only up to 715 views.

That is not normal compared to 6 months ago. 4, 6, 8, even 12 months ago I could post a video and it would receive 1,000 views within 24 hours. But now its like there is a delay, and the view count is a lot slower. There is a sudden burst of views, but then they level off over the next 24 - 48 hours.

My youtube channel has over 11,000 subscribers. That means that when those people log onto youtube, my video appears in the "your subscriptions" block on the main page.

Ok, here is the kicker - I posted 3 videos on youtube this past sunday and all off them did the same exact thing. All of them stopped getting their view count updated at around 300 - 320 views. There was like a 8 - 12 hour lull where the videos received almost no views.

I posted the fiest video around 9 - 10 am, the second around 2 pm and the third around 3:30pm. All of their view counts did the same exact thing.

Compared to 6 months ago, where the videos would receive 1,000+ views in 24 hours.

My number of subscribers are steady going up, so more people are seeing my newer videos when their posted.

This is not the first time the counters are getting stuck. I could find nothing definitive but a search of "YouTube Counter Stuck" bring back 100's of hits.

Honestly, I think a lot of these sites like twitter, facebook, and youtube are experiencing a huge growth spurt.

Youtube doesn't have much room to grow. Twitter, maybe, but I really don't think that youtube's got to "grow". It's pretty much where it's at, and it's going to be there forever.

As far as the counter issue, a lot of people were noticing that as well. I know I was.

It'll eventually get worked up and fixed properly

Growth maybe a bad choice of word on my part, I'm thinking it's experiencing a high volume of usage.
