No, its most likely the "Live Thread" plugin eating away the server due to the competition were hosting about posting to 1 million.

 

Live topic was causing teenforumz very high loads, we removed it and now it has settled down very well

That is not normal - those are ridiculously strenuous amounts. You're located on a shared hosting account, I take it?

 

correct..gdddy shared... but i've seen it hit 200.00 . . no joke. It usually hangs around 3-4.00.

 

Those are fairly high load averages. I can't say that I'm surprised (considering the web host)... and I'm sure that you've noticed a decrease in overall performance.

Making the move to that VPS soon would be beneficial!
