Anyone find this point about members leaving ironically accurate?

The more someone complains about a forum and makes a big deal about how they're leaving forever, the more likely they'll come back in about two days as if nothing has happened. Or return in about ten minutes to reply to every single comment in the leaving topics. Or end up getting banned for trolling or breaking a whole host of rules after having never particularly left in the first place.

Accurate rule of the internet? Ring true for anyone else here?

Some people are just hoping they'll be begged to stay.

We actually have a member at the moment who, up to now, has complained and "left the forum for good" 3 times and returned about 2 weeks later as if he had just joiuned that day.
He was well know on another forum I was a Moderator on to throw tantrums and usually get himself banned, only to come back with a new user name 3 or 4 times, until finally Admin on there banned his IP address.

yes, usually they are back within a few days....a month at most....

or a new member registers with their ip saying they are someone else!!!

or they say theyre leaving but when someone says "oh thats good, they were a spammer anyway" or "they annoyed me!" and then they will instantly come back as theyve been lurking the whole time, and flame them

Yeah. Or they say they will never visit person x's threads because they dont like him, then 2 weeks later they are back in said thread flaming away.
