Have you ever grown so tired of managing your community for so long that you had to take a break or vacation from it for a period of time longer than usual?

When I work on a project, I usually work on it full-force. I don't start multiple projects at once - I devote everything to just one at a time. So I'm constantly putting so much energy into a single venture that after a while, it gets tiring. In more than one instance I have taken a break or vacation from the forum. On one, I stopped visiting for a couple of weeks; I just put it out of mind. Then I came back and just lulled around -- I only responded to important things that required my attention, or that only I could handle.

I think this time away is healthy though. After long enough, you come back and are able to become re-acquainted with your community. You realize that the hard work you invested has paid off, and from that point forward you can focus on enjoying the community instead of nurturing it with 110% of your energy.

Share your experiences of taking a break from your forum(s), if you have any. :P

Everyone needs a break now and again. This is why mankind invented weekends. If you work for yourself or freelance you often forget this. You always need to take a day off or you will burnout.

I never have for my actual forum, I would rather keep the general activity level up and member interest high at pretty much all costs than let the site fall into a bit of a lull during summer. Yes, I have suffered burn out in some cases, but I've realised I would rather publish content in full than publish sections and guides that are incomplete, and I'm already fearing I'm taking too long at adding more content.
