When I was in high school, a good friend of mine, who was also in high school, flew small planes as a hobby. He was being instructed at a little local airport here in southern Maine. How many teens can say they fly planes?
I know many as I was involved with the air cadets for years. They teach kids to fly gliders at an early age, many getting that license by the age of 15. Then they graduate to powered flight and have their wings by the age of 18. Over the years many have pursued and gotten fighter pilot rating by age 22. I learned to fly from my grand dad. By age 10 I built and flew a glider off his barn roof LOL Those were the days, no brains lots of balls. LMAO
I'm not a pilot but it does sound pretty amazing, it must be nice to fly a plane and feel free through the air once in a while.I guess I kind of do have an idea why a lot of guys or maybe women want to fly, now if you can build gliders and other things that is pretty darn talented! I would be too scared to even try a glider, haven't been in a plane yet either but guess there is a first time for everything.
Back to 1985 I was flying a Cessna 172 at Kastoria (NW Greece) area only. Nice nature view, but not so easy flight due to turbulencies (Kastoria has a big lake which causes it).
I would never fly private as it is too expensive. When you see me then you should rest assure that I am going commercial first class.
