This may seem like a very verbose question but hear me out:

With options like vigilink, media.net and the likes of other media companies, Google Adsense seems to have the temper tantrum of a 5 year old screaming " mine" when it comes to being the only advertising option on a given site or forum. I'm sure we've all tried to search for payment proofs, information and pay scales of other advertisers before we make the decision to add the advertiser to our site and risk getting in trouble with Google.

With this in mind, how many monetization options do you have on your forum or site?

Do you utilize cpa, cpm and maybe a link shortner or do you go into ppd for your downloads?

    Let's see...

    I have...

    Google Adsense
    Advertising.COM
    BurstMedia
    Vibrant Media
    Chitika
    PulsePoint
    Viglink
    PostRelease / Nativo

People say how upset Adsense gets when you have other ads on your site, a few weeks ago I tried something by dropping all the ads except for Google and Viglink. In doing that my Adsense revenue dropped by 75% which shocked me as I expected it to go up.

Only Adsense at the moment. I did try some others, didn't pay much. I'm also signed up for viglink or something as well, but I haven't used it.

No idea why Google dropped when I made them the exclusive ad network. I only kept it like that for 3 days before I changed it back as I was losing my shirt.

BTW I forgot two more ad agencies I use...

    Admob
    Apple iAds

Did the revenue come back when you returned the ads?

Can you share other details? Did clicks remain the same? Did CPC drop? Did you get less CPM bids?

I'm currently in the process of working on a project with a new client. I am temporarily keeping Adsense off of it. Instead, I have him getting started with ity.im and adf.ly for the links since each works respectively as CPM. Since Adsense doesn't allow other media, I always suggest starting with something else first until you've created a solid base and upgrade from that to Adsense later.

I believe Adsense allow you to put another ad networks side by side.

But you cannot use adf.ly, linkbucks, adfoc.us, etc in your website. I forgot where I get this information, but from personal experience this is the cause of my blog getting banned from Adsense or at least after I remove them all my domain is unbanned.

I recently did the same to my forum and have noticed the drop in income on adsense. I thought maybe it was just me, but I'll try adding back the other ad networks I was previously using minus pop ups and see if the daily earnings go up. I wonder if they pay more due to a the competition to other ads on the site? I've heard of people setting something in their adsense account to get google to pay them more but this may be a better way...

Google is uncomfortable with other ads running where there is Adsense so it is better to stick with Adsense only if you want to ensure that all goes well on your site. Besides, Adsense pays the most and it is worthwhile only having their ads so that you can maximize your revenue.

Just banner advertisements that game owners purchased, we have two slots. Both are currently taken, then we sell sticky topics.
