So I go to login for my daily dose of comedy, only to find I've been banned.

Wayne Luke has banned me for "Can't limit commentary to facts"

The last post I made was here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...-license-price-and-such?p=3991387#post3991387

Never received any warnings, or anything asking me to refrain from posting such advice or anything. Just straight to the ban hammer.

But i guess when everyone around you is getting fired or is quitting, pressure starts to mount. So no hard feelings, it's probably past time to move on from there any way.

Staff members are under a lot of pressure over there, my guess is that they are trying to prove they are active and valuable by doing stuff like that. I'm surprised Wayne Luke would do something like that though, he's always been a good guy in my experience. I'd expect this behavior from someone else.

Can't please 'em, ban 'em. Welcome to the club. Watching the fail boat from the outside is always preferred than being stuck on it.

Some of the VB staff cannot seem to understand why such actions result in dissatisfied customers.

Some even post here complaining about banned and or defamed customers posting about their experiences.

If you are not in their little "group" who feel the need to post propaganda, but choose to post facts, then this could be your reward.

Wear the ban badge with pride, it shows you as a person of integrity.

I'm impressed. You got banned by the big cheeze himself? That is an honor of distinction.
I too welcome you to the club. :grouphug:

So the OP is OhioDave at vb.com?

Isn't what he posted a valid concern? I've seen a few post here and even @Paul M confirmed that the latest PHP wouldn't work on the latest vB4 or did I miss something?

I try to read every post on Admin Talk but you guys have been posting so much & I've just been to damn busy to catch and remember everything.

What's sad is that even though vB staff knows that the latest PHP won't work on vB4, they still haven't gotten around to completely fixing the vBulletin FAQ that prospective customers see where it lists the minimum requirements for vB4.

The FAQ has the following vB4 requirements:

Minimum Requirements: vBulletin is designed to run on every server that has PHP 5.2 or greater and MySQL 4.1.0 or greater installed.

A new customer was pretty pissed off more than 2 weeks ago and brought it to their attention here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...ey-wont-support-php-5-4?p=3988363#post3988363

vB staff told the customer sorry but the FAQ is wrong. Then Joe D submitted a bug report to get the FAQ corrected.

They fixed the question specifically asking "Does vBulletin support PHP 5.4?" but didn't change the verbiage in the minimum requirements section for vB4. Doh!

If so, then I expect the ban would be the result of a very long list of posts, not just the final one.

Or the ban was because he posted some truth that the staff did not want revealed. A more likely scenario.

I'm quite sure he was well aware how often he crossed the line, since Im quite sure many were purposly posted knowing they were unacceptable, and that eventually someone would decide enough is enough. I saw enough of them to know his time would come, Im sure I was not alone.

I don't know, isn't that what the Infraction system is for on vBulletin?

I dont really know how they use infractions. Those few who constantly cross the line are, Im sure, perfectly aware of the fact, given their posts probably get deleted. They just push the limits until one day they push just a bit too far.

Maybe you can email vB to find out the proper reason on why you were banned.
Sounds like to me you were being a pest and deserved a flat out ban.

meh, I'm not putting that much effort in to email them and ask about it, I can accept it for what it is. They're the ones that have to live with the shittiest forum software ever while working for the worst company in the universe.

plus they've got to deal with mark b. And Paul m for eternity.
