I upgraded my test board (http://remixtalk.com) to Beta 3 from Beta 1 with no issues. The TapaTalk plugin did break posting though I just disabled it for the time being.

Arguably I don't have any data to really worry about but everything seems Kosher.

XenForo 1.2.0 Beta 5 Released (Unsupported)

Anyone watching the XenForo Bug Reports forum will have noticed the list of bugs rapidly diminishing over recent days. With our fifth beta for XenForo 1.2, we believe that we are approaching the end of the beta process, with the software reaching an increasingly stable and ready state, and we hope to proceed to the Release Candidate phase with our next release.

XenForo 1.2.0 Beta 5 is now available to all customers with active licenses. This release focuses on fixing bugs, conflicts, and usability issues discovered since the release of XenForo 1.2.0 Beta 4. All previous fixes and updates are included in this update.

This is beta software. It is not officially supported. We do not recommend running it in production.

Please remember that this is beta software. It contains known bugs and incomplete functionality. We do not recommend running beta software in a production environment, and support is limited at this time to questions here on the community forums.

Expect many add-ons and styles to be broken after upgrading to 1.2. You must test your add-ons thoroughly or look for updates. Be especially careful with add-ons that cover similar features to ones that are added to 1.2; these may conflict with the core XenForo data. If data conflicts are found, they will need to be resolved in a new add-on release or by removing the add-on before upgrading to 1.2.

If you choose to run beta software, it is your responsibility to ensure that you make a backup of your data. We recommend you do this before attempting an upgrade.

    Installation and Upgrade Instructions

It is highly recommended that you back up your XenForo database and files before you attempt to upgrade. This is doubly important if you have ever installed add-ons that may create conflicts.

Full details for how to install and upgrade XenForo can be found in the XenForo Manual.

All customers with active licenses may download XenForo 1.2 Beta 5 from their customer area.

This release also includes a number of importer changes. There is now an official vBulletin 4 importer and a new (early stage) MyBB 1.6 importer. The existing importers have also been expanded to cover more content such as post edit history.

XenForo 1.2.0 Release Candidate 1 Released (Unsupported)

After five beta versions, we are sufficiently confident in the stability of XenForo 1.2 to move the process forward to the Release Candidate stage.

    What is a Release Candidate?

After a number of beta releases, the functionality of the product should be complete and the rate of bugs being reported (should) slow to a trickle, allowing the development team to work through the backlog and reduce the number of bugs to a handful. We have now reached this point in the development of XenForo 1.2.0, so the time is right to produce a release candidate.

This means that the software is proposed as stable, and a period of time is allowed to verify the proposal. If no major bugs are found during that period, the software will be released as 1.2.0. If bugs are found that are considered sufficiently important to delay the release, we will see a second release candidate. This process continues until no significant bugs are discovered during the probation period for the latest release candidate.

We recommend that all customers running previous 1.2 beta versions now upgrade to Release Candidate 1.

All licensed customers may now download the new version from the customer area.

    This is Unsupported Software

While we have moved on from the beta distinction, please remember that this release is not officially supported and we do not recommend running pre-release software in a production environment. Support is limited at this time to questions here on the community forums.

XenForo 1.2.0 Release Candidate 2 Released (Unsupported)

Today, we continue the release candidate stage of 1.2 with release candidate 2. We are becoming increasingly confident with the stability of the 1.2 series and hope to release a supported version of 1.2 soon.

As you would expect, this release simply fixes a number of small bugs.

    What is a Release Candidate?

After a number of beta releases, the functionality of the product should be complete and the rate of bugs being reported (should) slow to a trickle, allowing the development team to work through the backlog and reduce the number of bugs to a handful. This process continues until no significant bugs are discovered during the probation period for the latest release candidate.

We recommend that all customers running previous 1.2 versions now upgrade to Release Candidate 2.

    XenForo 1.2.0 Released

We are happy to release XenForo 1.2.0 today, the first supported release of XenForo 1.2. This release builds on XenForo 1.1 to add a significant number of new features and bug fixes. We are now confident in recommending that customers upgrade their production websites to XenForo 1.2.0. Please see the upgrade information below.

We would like to thank everyone that provided bug reports and feedback throughout the beta and release candidate period. We couldn't have done it without you. :)

All licensed customers may now download the new version from the customer area.

    New Features

Amongst the new XenForo 1.2 features are the following:
    ...and much more.

    New Importers

Also new with XenForo 1.2 are importers for MyBB 1.6 and XenForo 1.2. These are available immediately within the Import External Data section of the XenForo Admin Control Panel. Note that both of these importers are themselves considered beta and in testing.

XenForo Resource Manager and Enhanced Search with 1.2

While the 1.0.1 releases of each of these add-ons work with XenForo 1.2.0, we recommend that you upgrade to the 1.0.2 releases each of add-on (if you are running them). They add full support for 1.2's changes. In the case of the Resource Manager, this includes full responsive support. See the release announcements for more details
    Installation and Upgrade Instructions

Full details for how to install and upgrade XenForo can be found in the XenForo Manual.

Expect many add-ons and styles to be broken after upgrading to 1.2 (from 1.1).

We highly recommend that you backup your data (database and files) before you upgrade to 1.2, particularly if you are running third-party add-ons. You may wish to also upgrade your test installation before updating production to make sure you are prepared.
    Templates Changed Since 1.1
A full list will not be released as it's simply too large and the changes are significant. You should use the "Outdated Templates" system (and the new template merging option) to bring your templates up to date. Alternatively, you may wish to simply revert your customizations and redo them.

    Style Properties Changed Since 1.1
Unlike templates, style properties will not be listed as being outdated. Depending on the customizations you've made to style properties, you may find that features such as the responsive design do not function correctly. You should double check your customizations to any style properties in this list. You may wish to revert them and redo them based on the new default value.

Some specific changes to the default values are noted here if they are particularly important. The properties can be found using the admin control panel search.

    XenForo 1.2.1 Released

XenForo 1.2.1 fixes a number of bugs and issues that were in 1.2.0. As this is a maintenance release, the vast majority of the focus was an increase in stability. However, we have also made a few other improvements:
    • Moderators that have the "bypass user privacy" setting will now see when a user is banned. The username will be struck out in most cases.
    • There is now a rebuild cache tool to update trophies for all users. This will award any unawarded trophies and recalculate the trophy point totals.
    • There is now a rebuild cache tool to upgrade promotions for all users. Normally, promotions would only be run against active users. This tool will run the promotions against all users. This is mostly only relevant when adding or changing promotions and you want to ensure the changes are applied immediately.
    • There is now improved logging of fatal PHP errors. They will be logged with the other server error logs in the admin control panel.
Most of the changes are bug fixes. Some of the bugs fixed include:
    • Improve character conversion options and defaults in the importers
    • Fix a number of issues when importing data from XenForo 1.2
    • Reduce memory usage in deferred classes (debug mode/installer/upgrader only)
    • Fix multi-select stylings in iOS/OS X
    • Adjust wrapping behavior of poll results
    • Detect if conversation totals are incorrect and recalculate when needed
    • Fix specific situations where CSS was not flipped in RTL
    • Fix the rich text editor in the admin CP
    • Ensure that a password is entered when registering
    • Change the copyright to not have a hard coded color
    • Fix the admin CP search being case sensitive
    • Fix an issue that prevented cron tasks from being run after failing
    • When editing a thread via the thread list, maintain the forum title if it's displayed
    • Use the "canonical" URL to avatars in an email
    • Improve RTL email display
    • Fix regular expression in RTE text processing failing with some PCRE setups and long posts
    • Improve pasting of certain HTML tags into the RTE
    • Fix cut/copy handling in the RTE in IE8
    • Fix Chrome and IE scrolling unexpected when pasting into the RTE
    • Ensure that the guest user object has all default user fields specified
    • Tweak the printable character count in signatures to be more accurate
    • Nofollow/noindex debug output to ensure it doesn't get indexed
See the Resolved Bug Reports forum for further information.

All licensed customers may now download XenForo 1.2.1 from the customer area.
