Okay, I was searching for something like this but the best one I could find is a few months old.
Check out this video, you'll see the first 59 seconds scream by, then you'll see the actual use experience taking 6 minutes of painfully watching the Loading screen..

Have things really changed that much, what's with the sales video from vBulletin showing the site is flying by and actually showing items that don't even work yet.. eg post editing.. I want to see the letters fall down like that..lol

Obviously they're taking the slow but sure message of the tortoise and the hare very seriously.

I can't view the video. Something about copyright permissions.....

But, if it was 8 months old, yes, vB5 has improved since then. Has it improved enough to say it is a high quality product? Nope. Not even close.

I won't even bother with vBulletin 5 until it's out of beta and has had some significant improvements done to it. I went with vB 4.x.x because of all the mods etc currently available for it, though I know some people say vB 3.x.x is better.

I like the look of vB 5, but some of the most basic features are still missing, like the members list.

    vB5 is out of beta....

Funny how people keep saying that. vB5 is no longer beta software. It is however "not gold" either and IB has made it clear, they will never give it a "gold" status. So, if you consider "out of beta" gold status, you're going to be waiting a mighty long time and that might be the case no matter what. LOL!

Could it perhaps be classed as "Fools Gold" :cautious:

I've called it a pyrite release in numerous posts. The analogy is sadly pretty much on the mark.

Yes it has. I won't say I'm pleased but I respect their work. Its potential is high.

When it reachs 5.1.0 we will judge. I'm sure at that time there're no more things they can defend.

IMO the image doesn't say anything, except that they have plans for their next 3,4 version (whatever the current version is)

It tells me, either the actual issues and project tasks are hidden or they've stopped working on vB5 completely. It is most likely the former. I think that is Mark Jean's new project policy. The road map is to stay a complete secret right up until the release of each version. At that point, you'll find out what great stuff IB has come up with....or not.
