    Me neither, that's ridiculous.
From the looks of it all I would definitely go with Forumotion here. Personally I started out on ProForums but I had a few friends who used both of those services and I got to know the differences quite colorfully ;)

I've always loved ProBoards so I go with them over Forumotion. One thing I've noticed about ProBoards is that it's never had any exceedingly nice designs but they do have some very large communities. I've always liked that about them and plus, that's the first forum software I ever used.

I suppose when it's the first host/software you use, you're not sure about the alternatives out there, and what choice you really have

They are but when the graphic design forums were in their prime years ago they blew away the current stuff.

Do many people still use free hosted forums like this?
I started my first forum on a free script, but I still hosted it myself.
I've never seen a point in these free hosted options to be honest.

I've always thought they were popular back in the early to late 90s-2000s, I rarely see people use them these days.

I think I might use either one of these if I indeed go on with making my own forum. I've seen Forumotion and honestly, I didn't like their designs. It feels too complicated and hurtful to the eyes. I've yet to see proboards' designs so I can't really make a decision between the two right now.

And yet isn't it tough to transfer your database to other software if you're trying to move off their sites?
