Hey everyone, I currently own sleektalk.com We had some renovations this weekend while bringing up our XenForo software (we're not done but we should be by the weekend of the 22nd) While our board is completely operational now, just a bit standard, we decided to open in plan of our schedule, this came with one difficulty that I'm afraid has doomed my board with preexisting members. We had sent out a mass email at 0330 just so that members could wake up to an email from us and have a nice night of sleep from a single email, however, that back fired greatly, instead of sending out one email, a few users that've decided to keep around SleekTalk have reported that they've gotten up to 17 emails.

How would I recover from this tragic event? Is there a way to recover those members whom decided to deem the board unprofessional because of this error?

    Any help is 100% appreciated.

What else is there to do than explain that it was a glitch, apologize, and move on?

    Exactly!
Find out what went wrong, work on correcting the issues, while you apologize and reassure everyone that you're taking steps to prevent this from ever happening again.

Your site reminds me of an older version of my site (except on XenForo).

Thank you? Haha, we're currently doing a lot of upgrades at the moment but XenForo and PayPal aren't really on our side with cooperation at this time.

17 members thought your board was unprofessional. LOL.. they should come hang out on some of mine and they will learn what an unprofessional board is all about.

    Ignore them. Move on.

Lol I think you misread my message. All 114 of my members had received 17 of the same email at the same time although I hit the send button once.

Ah, well, could you inform me of the good & bad? Haha, all suggestions on improvements are considered and most of them are implemented in SleekTalk.
Lol, I could never do that, only bad webmasters could ever do that to their community, and in some respects, I wouldn't care if it were 3-5 emails because that ensures they actually see it, maybe even if it's going to spam for some reason, but 17 is like, wtf happened man O_o

You got rid of all the tabs for each section, but the amount of forums can be condensed.

We're actually hoping to implement a better collapsible tab system which allows us to keep most sections collapsed until clicked on, therefor reducing the forum length and allowing members to see only a section of which they choose instead of all.

Yes, it is good and all for when the site is active. It doesn't look like the site is active when you have too many sections that are empty.

Yeah, that was actually a mistake on our side, 3/5 of the empty sections were actually added several days before we were offline for the weekend while doing an upgrade to XenForo, we haven't yet recovered our daily active users and don't expect to completely recover them until our upgrades with the addons and new Style are 100% up and going which we are expecting to be done by this weekend or next.

My suggestion: Start small and slowly work back up to where you are at.

I'd wait a day or so, and send another email explaining it was a glitch. After that, you should resume with growing your community as normal, and show your old members that your back by bringing in new members.

If you do that, some of them will return over time. Members never forget a community that they've liked.

Thank you both, I'll send out an email once our modifications are 100% done with the board explaining the glitch in the system and inviting them back around while ensuring it wont happen again.
