I'll haven't tried it out yet, so it would be nice to hear more about their program.

I have never heard of Twitter offering any advertising programs before. I had seen plenty of other ad networks which uses Twitter to promote their ads and products, and we shall be paid for each click or a portion of the sales revenue. Though having an advertising program within Twitter shall make their revenue model, I dont think that they shall start such programs without alerting all the members.

Just because the email headers say so, doesn't mean that they had to be generated from the Twitter's servers. Anyone can easily spoof the email address to make it looks like originating from Twitter.

Yeah, it is legit. It is only by invitation right now. But, its kinda pricey. I could do better with adwords if I was really looking to advertise. Though, I think from what I have read that its pretty impressive if you had some kind of service geared toward social advertising. It is much better than Facebook ads as far as I can tell

I actually made a mistake in understanding your thread. I was under the impression that Twitter was providing a platform for helping its members to get paid from advertisements in their website, and that felt like taking away the social feel of the website. That's the reason why I stated that there shall be chances for the mail to be scam.

If Twitter allow advertisers to advertise in their website, then its a good move. They never had a good revenue model so far, and maybe this shall change that after all. What are the rates that they are offering ?

There are several sites that can help you to monetize your tweets. I have heard about sponsoredtweets.com, mylikes.com among others. While it may sound too commercial, in my opinion there is no harm in sending these kinds of tweets once in a while. After all you are spending so much time and effort to build your profile and gather followers, what's the harm in monetizing some of your efforts?

Plenty. There are plenty of methods to make us monetize our tweets. You can always get paid for every tweet that you make, every visit that a link that your tweet generate, and affiliate sales.
