    I'm on the east coast, but I'll hang out for another hour or so since I'm up and researching something for my site.

    Buggy mess...

    And trying to innovate by replacing activity streams over thread display? WTF?

    Yeah. Not good.

    I like the new vB mainpage. Very edgy.

    Lots of things going wrong with the beta: [you need to be logged in] https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/407223-VB5-Demo-Feedback
    @digitalpoint posted this:

    Go through the thread, there's even more complaints. Good thing I don't have the money to buy the beta yet. They still need more improvements.

    Looks like the responses to vBulletin 5 are just what I expected.

    Seriously though, it looks ugly, seems to work poorly and is probably coded terribly, and I will probably never go back to vBulletin if vBulletin 5 is kept like this.

    To be honest though, I don't think their competitors are doing as well as they could be either...

    To be fair, much of that probably comes from some terrible directory and forum naming, the vb5demo and main forum [number] bit probably won't be in the final version.

    And it's kind of logical really. Treat the forum name like a folder and the topic title like a page title. I've always been bugged by using 'showthread' in the URL.

    But, if they go ahead and change the URLS, they will need to set up redirections as well. I prefer the "title of the thread" more so than showthread in the URL as well.

    Oh, and on another note...

    apparently there's a random bug which gives members a message saying they've been permanently banned despite not actually being banned. No seriously, people elsewhere reported getting that message, refreshing the page and finding themselves not to be banned.

    Oh won't it be fun when someone stupidly upgrades a live site to vBulletin 5 beta and finds their members complaining about being perma banned at random!
