There is software out there that will allow you to take a picture of your own and stylize it -- since we wouldn't want to be accused of anything inappropriate... There are plenty of adjustments you can make as well as far a contour, luminescence, contrast, etc... Here's the original photo, the stylized version and a finished poster sample: Comparison:
Actually, since I'm a nerdy programmer, I have a lot of "source code sites" that I keep for reference for different methods and algorithms for programming. I just happened to come across this Bilateral photo filter source code. So (as we programmers often do) I compiled the source code into an executable program and voila! It takes about 20 seconds to convert a photo with literally this "point and shoot" software. Here's the original programmer's description: For me, it was just too geeky to pass up..... had to try it out.... So, to answer your question, I don't know if you can do this in photoshop since I don't use photoshop and have never learned it. I use very simple tools to create these posters instead. The above sample literally took about 8 minutes to put together once I had the original photo and before doing the conversion.
I downloaded a couple of those. Just saying that I would pay for some custom made signs and sure others would also. I'm lucky to make a good stick person!!!!
Yes. "Posterize" is a one click option. Here is a tutorial: http://www.republicofcode.com/tutorials/photoshop/video_paster/
Kodak Easy Share has a "Cartoon" option on their photo editing that will do something similar for those of us not so geekily talented. A freind sent me a link to a photo-importing poster making software that is free called "Scribus" but I haven't attempted to use it yet. Maybe Chip is familiar with it.
A Nice look! Strangely enough, the photo editing firmware in my phone- "PhotDJ" - actually has more than that of the software in my PC, including that poster effect. When I want to do something different, I actually send it to my phone for effects, then sent it back to the PC for lettering...
cool...in just behind the times my phone is just a phone...but Chip has peaked my interest in using photoshop type programs
