So, instead of buying traffic - how do you feel about buying unique content/articles - and spreading them out among the article sites? I think it would reap more benefits than buying traffic - but what do you think?

Ok, now that is a bit different.

They keyword there is the UNIQUE part. Buying or making your own unique content is a much better, safer option than purchasing traffic. Even if you do happen to spread it out, as long as it remains unique, you should be ok.

The flip side of that is you have to hope the person really IS making unique content for you. It might be unique when he/she first gives you the content. But if this person works with more webmasters than yourself, you can find they might be using duplicates or spinners of their own work to give off to others. Over time, that still gives you something to worry about because Google picks up on that over time.

Unfortunately, every good idea comes with a little bit of a risk when it's something done for payment.

I'd rather get organic views than buy traffic for my site. Well, if I need some stats then I would consider getting in a program that trades views but that's it.

Buying traffic never works, it just wastes bandwidth, and gains you little to no organic views. Having actual people who will stay by advertising on places close to your niche is way better than paying for advertisements

Advertising on relevant forums shall be your best bet when it comes to advertising your forum. Advertising on social networks shall simply be a waste of time, as your click through rate and your conversions shall be terrible. Its not worth investing in those websites.

Using Adwords may sound to be a bit of expensive method, even though it shall deliver you results with better conversions. So use Adwords if you have enough to spend.

Else, its better suited for one to advertise on relevant forums.

I would not spend any real money on buying traffic. I would rather have real people viewing my site. I might use a sub 4 sub network in increase my stats but that's about it.

If you want to buy traffic for your site, I suggest you get it from legit sources like Adwords, Adcenter, Facebook Ads, Media buys. If you buy them from some traffic seller then you never know what kind of traffic you are getting. So while 1000 visitor for $10 type of deals sound very appealing, it could have damaging effects in the long run. For instance, your adsense account could be banned, your CPA network may not like the traffic and revoke your payments and so on.

Nope, I don't. At all. I have considered it in the past in order to boost my numbers, but realistically, I'm in it for the long haul. I don't want my numbers falsely inflated. I want real users coming by my websites.

Buying ads shall be a good way to make revenue off your website, but it shall depend where you actually buy the traffic. Some years back, people used to buy Adwords traffic and they shall direct them to their website or landing page and they shall make money from their website from Adsense or CPA. Though Adwords doesn't allow it much, people still does it, and make a good revenue from it.

I haven't bought any traffic for my site, but I've been thinking more and more about doing this as of late. I want to push my forum to become successful faster, and if buying traffic will help, then I'll definitely consider my options.

Rather than buying traffic from a website or some vendor, unless its organic traffic or PPC traffic, I certainly dont think that it shall bring you anything good. You are better off by purchasing some ad spaces in some related niche forum or some other kind of advertising. That is what I think.

Obviously the traffic will need to be targeted. Only people with half a brain buy traffic from any site, and expect it to convert. They have to be interested in your site for them to become members.

I was planning on buying ads off a few sites in my niche. BTW if anyone reads this, don't PM me offering advertising, I won't respond.

In my opinion it is not worth the money to buy visitors as mostly the traffic you buy is fake or non-targeted. Therefore it won't most likely convert and you will end up wasting your money. From my point of view it is better to put your efforts or money in link building via forums or any other source. Try also promotion in social networks to get real, targeted visitors.

I am from India where 1 USD at the moment is around 53 INR. That makes things quite expensive at the moment to buy out adverts or any other thing which would say or at least raise hopes to get good traffic. That said, when you buy out things, many a times, you might get traffic but then, it is more of the useful traffic that one should be more interested in rather than the not to interested traffic.

Hence many a times, I refrain from buying out spaces which promise me to get loads of traffic.I still believe that if you do the SEO right the chances of getting organic traffic are higher and even though they might seem less, the chances of conversion are higher. :)

I don't buy traffic, I attract it with free methods like using article directories, social media, forums, blog comments etc. You have to be careful if you want to buy traffic, else you will throw a lot of money away.

I do buy traffic for my blog sometimes. I did it by using facebook PPC (extremely good targeting options), Google Adsense or a local network similar to Google Adsense. Had mixed results ;).

I tried Attracta, I think I only paid around £50 ish for a few thousand visitors... What annoyed me most was that I saw 100+ visitors a day and no one registered so I cancelled as It seemed to be fake...

Its quite false when we say that someone is generating traffic for us, it is indeed bot traffic. That is not the case with many reputated sellers. They actually drive traffic from plenty of sources like parked domains, social networks, PTC, or something like that.

If you can think different and can convert those traffic, that can easily turn profitable for you.

I can see from the amount of responses to this topic that this is quite a popular discussion. ;)
I can see why people might want to buy traffic so that their Alexa rank makes them look big.
But be warned, if you try to sell your site people want to know where the traffic came from.
Also note that if you use AdSense on your site be sure to check if the traffic is AdSense friendly.
Not many, in fact very few traffic generators are actually AdSense friendly so watch out for this.
Hitleap is one example of an AdSense friendly traffic generator (for premium members though).

When you are buying traffic from reputed sellers, you are actually getting "real visitors" to your website. Instead of paying Adwords or some other ad networks for these views, you buy the traffic.

In some cases, you may get bot views. Its better to stay away from such sellers.
