As long as I've been a webmaster, I've always been a firm believer in the fact that content is king. Why? Because without content your site won't go anywhere - it'll go downhill and rot. But, also, with content, you also need to build links to your pages - that way your content gets crawled and people can find it.

It's not that all content is king though, its the fact that quality content is king and will take you far places. What does everyone think though? Are you a firm believer that content is king and always will be? Share your thoughts

I agree that great content is king but great leadership is queen and one without the other will never work.

Great leadership and content goes hand to hand in my opinion. A great leader will attract valuable members that'll be loyal to the community and help them build the community, I agree.

A great leader will also need to ensure new content arrives frequently :)

Myself, I agree that content is and will always be king. Google is even changing their algorithm to start indexing more of the main content on a page and less of what is in the header tags :) That alone is showing google's recognition that content is king and by doing that, it makes content even more worthy and important for forum owners to consider.

Content is king. "abilities" (accessibility, usability, and navigability) are queen. Management is prince. You can be the biggest arsehole and still run a successful site.

Honestly, IMO, if your a prick or an ahole, I don't think your forum will be that successful. I mean who wants to be around obnoxious people? Not I!

A friendly atmosphere is always needed, that is why so many businesses, stores and services require their employees to have it for customers and clients ;)

Yes, I believe the same thing, but quality content alone won't make your site popular, you need to have other active members as well you post, even if it is not the highest quality.

I agree. I started a new forum this morning, its got a top level domain (.com) and paid hosting from Arvixe. I've installed MyBB on it so far. Also installed CloudFlare and performed some optimizations so people will have no problem with it being slow. Following this, I'll be creating a custom theme, and posting content before the grand opening. Using a free TLD extension, free hosting and advertising with no content just fails.

    Content is most definitely King.
Powerful content attracts visitors and even more powerful content keeps theme there. If visitors like what they see they have reason to visit or stay, if not.. Why bother?

Content is king and will remain so in the future. The most popular sites on the internet are so because of valuable content they offer to their visitors. Spammy sites with low quality content do not hold a chance in the race to the top.

You cannot grow a good community with bad content. Not a site, not a blog not anything. But you need to understand that people do buy books for their covers :)

So, your duty as a forum admin is to make sure you provide your visitors and members some excellent content and a beautiful professional theme. Otherwise you're hindering your growth. I know few ugly or default forums I would join, just because their content is very good. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. But I do know many forums I helped get off the ground just because their theme was stunning and I just felt nice looking at them.
