Dealing with other people's b.s. on their forums or having had to deal with enough idiots in general is what would make me want my own forum, and really, it is why I started one of my own.

Well, I started my "virtual pets" community because I wanted to share my opinions, thoughts, and knowledge with other users who shared the same interests as me. I can probably honestly say that most people create forums to share their interests with others.

I've never seen anyone start a forum with this exact reason though. I usually see people creating new forums because they love the enjoyment that comes with it - and building a quality place for others to share interests with you as well. Sometimes when you deal with bad apples on other forums, they tend to come to your community as well and start trouble - but as long as you hold firm, they'll never take you down!

Forum Hookers - started to serve all for free in all fields. And we are behind it and we are making a team to achieve all in future.

and this thread reminds me of one of one of my thread in my forum

I've edited out your forum link. Please do not advertise your forum link inside regular posts. We have a showcase forum for that. @Brandon

I make forums for the chance to make a bit of cash (from advertisements, membership upgrades, etc) and for the experience. Managing a forum requires skill (unless you've got a pre-made board with someone like FreeForums for instance) and you can improve your skill, and webmaster knowledge from owning a forum.

I started a forum because I wanna see how much forum owners earn when they have a busy forum. Now I end up working late at night to make the forum look good and spam free and i almost forget about earning money through it as I wanted my members learn with the contents in my forum.

I started my current forum a long with a friend as we're both interested in the subject and we thought it'd be a nice little "hobby" site to work on.

In hindsight, starting the forum on such a broad and already over-saturated niche was no doubt a mistake, but I still get some enjoyment out of running it and so does my friend so it's not all bad :)
