Have you ever wondered why so many people around you are talking about social media and bookmarking networks like Twitter, Stumbleupon, Delicious, Dig and more? They can turn fortunes of your website in few days. To your surprise you can get a good amount of traffic and might even notice an increase in page ranks. This is because most of the popular bookmarking networks can provide quality backlinks to your website and route quality traffic who are interested in your website.

However there is no dearth of social bookmarking networks available on date. Not all would be the best ones to go with and neither can I provide a whole list of all the good social bookmarking networks. Some of the preferred social bookmarking networks are as below:

·Twitter. Twitter is a hugely popular microblogging cum social bookmarking network where marketers can share their news, stories and articles with their followers. Its tagline “What are you doing?” has been a standout.
·Stumbleupon. It comes with a simple interface where you can enter the Title, Tags and Description about your content and start sharing with the world. You can give a thumbs up or down, review depending upon your evaluation based on site or content.
·Delicious. Like Stumbleupon it offers similar functionality and is one of the most popular social bookmarking networks.
·Yahoo Buzz. This is a social bookmarking network with a subtle difference. They concentrate more on news pieces than general story content. You could find huge collection of latest news - political, sports and general.
·Reddit. This is another social bookmarking network site, hugely popular and allows marketers to tag their stories with keywords.

You can create thousands of accounts if you have the patience and resources on different social bookmarking sites to promote your stories. I would strongly recommend focusing on some 5-10 social bookmarking websites and providing quality content to your readers.

I concentrate much on Stumbleupon and have realized marked difference in traffic on matters shared there. And now I am fan of it. I think recently introduced Google+ too would be effective to improve page ranking.

Although I am not quite sure how forums work with Pinterest, I would highly recommend it and also Bubblews.

Bubblews is actually a fast growing blogging/community website. It pays its users as well. I highly recommend you get a back link or two there.

Redgage - Not the fastest site, but it is worth getting back links from there.

I use a few different social approaches including Facebook, Twitter, Stumble, Pinterest and YouTube, then Squidoo and Ezine for Article distribution.
It can take a lot of your time up having a lot of social sites running at once if you plan on keeping them updated. I stick with these 7 and they're plenty enough to keep my busy!

There is a very thinline when working on these engaging and addictive social media sites - the chances are you would always be lured in to spend more time just because of the expectations (which on many cases do get delivered). So I would recommend that stick to the few which you are familiar with, keep an eye open for the newer ones - the ones which are blooming and also - stay away from devoting too much of time just promoting and participating on them... as there are other works at hand too which do need to be done.

As some of the others said use Bubblews it's a pretty good way because of how well it pays it's users I think everyone should give Bubblews a chance at some point.

Social bookmarking has never been good for high quality backlinks, but one thing is sure. If your article get's on the front page of Digg, it will get more than 5,000 views in matter of 2-3 days. that's the magic of social bookmarking.

If your site is mostly looking to promote product reviews is one of these better than the other?
