Sometimes on a community there's members that don't post too much quality like "cool story", or "lol cool" or things of that nature - does this make you mad when forum members post like this or do you disregard it? I know personally if I member is making low quality posts like this, I'd send them a message and tell them please do not spam.

    How about you?

Most likely these types of posts are coming from those "best seo company" signature links.
I remove 'em and if they completely spam the forum with their junk - BAN!

I get more frustrated than anything with 2-3 word posts. Luckily I haven't had to deal with it much. If a newbie does it consistently I'll send them a welcome message and see if there's anything they need help with or whatever.

I look at it like this as well.
To be honest, I don't mind small post but if all your post are like that then I'll send them a pm asking to make better post.
If it's a new users and they're obviously just trying to pad their post count for sig links, I just ban and delete their post.

Ya, that's exactly what I do as well, and its ridiculous when you're running a $100 posting contest and certain users try to spam by saying "Good luck" on certain, and you know what? When they do that, I disqualify them from the contest because when I run those type of contests, I'm looking for more quality content than anything, not low post-padding posts.

@Big Dan Xenforo doesn't send out a new PM to new users? I know vBulletin does, but wasn't sure if Xenforo does.

It can get annoying, but you still don't want to deter them from making the better posts. If it's too common, then stepping in would be appropriate.

Couldn't you just set a minimum character count for posts?
You can even go as far to doing it for members of a certain usergroup... ( most likely new members of the forum )

I don`t mind short posts in forum games
But in other sections I would like members to write at least 6 or 7 words
and I am lucky 99% of my members do make great posts

Ya, our forum games section used to be very popular. The users requested it, now I barely see any posts in that given forum - maybe about 5 to 10 a week on average of something, but I could be off. I just don't pay attention to that section unless I'm posting about a song that I'm listening to. And really if you have a forum games section - you can have the posts counts turned off so it doesn't increase users post numbers, or you can leave it alone and allow the users to post and rack up.

I don't think those posts are useful for small forums just developing. Probably something's gone wrong with the administration if those are getting through in a developing forum. They can be more prevalent on large forums where the massive amount of users is prone to those posts.

    Not really.

If they are doing it to beat the signature system (if enabled on a board I run), then I will stop them. But one liners and low quality posts have never been an issue to me. I do it myself because sometimes its appropriate... What bothers me the most is people constantly replying with a quote lol. Like you quote this, someone quotes you quoting this, someone quotes them quoting you quoting this, quoting like that haha!

I think if it is abused then yes, I would PM them about it. Every once in awhile probably will not be harmful. Like another member said, it may bring some quality replies (of course it may bring spammy replies too)

I don't get mad about it. I might delete excessive fluff posts, but a couple aren't something to be worried about.
