what in your opinion are the best fonts?

 

Depends on the effect you are looking for, Lucida Sans, Impact, Myriad Pro are all good for a more "professional" look.

While the likes of Slant just look cool

You are right. Correct me if I'm wrong but your logo uses Slant, right?
Anyways, different fonts have different usage. If you want a big directory of free fonts, go to DaFont.com.
