I say it's a must to visit daily, post in a a dozen topics and create some topics each day.

I make sure people know the admin is there, they actually become really known and friendly.

The admin/owner should visit at least once a day if not more.

The admin should always log into his/her forum. If he/she is on vacation, then they should alert the other staff members - that way the community remains strong without the admin. But, as an owner, and administrator, I believe you should visit, and post on your community as much as possible.

I think admins should visit their forum every day and keep posting so the forum doesn't die. If the admin isn't active it could make the forum not look so good.

Of course that would happen. Users always take note of what the admin is doing, and usually follows in their lead.
