Well, since AdSense and its alternatives haven't worked out for me, I'm considering selling my own ads on my forum.

However, I'm not sure how to go about this, like where the best place to put the ads would be, and how much to charge in the places.

My site is a PR3 and according to Google Analytics, I get 180 to 250 visitors a day and 800-1,500 pageviews a day.

Any suggestions? I want some advice on how to do this right.

While having a PR is great people wont really go for that.. you gotta have an active community along with it to have a higher success of getting people to buy adspace.. My suggestion would be to not sell until you have an active forum with decent traffic. And you have to keep the prices low or know one will buy from you.

As far as the sizes I would stick with say one 468x60 for the top and a 728x90 for the bottom but which ever is best for your forum matters. Thats just my preference.

Alright. I have been getting a lot of traffic lately, content has been a bit slow though. Guess I'll start small, how much would you price those ad sizes and their locations? I plan to to have a 728x90 in the threads too.

You could also try to use Project wonderful to sell ads.

Tried them, received $1.74 total after, let's see, I think it was a month or two.
Idk, traffic has been picking up, but I don't think I should try them again.
