Has anyone here ever been stressed out from managing a community? If so, why? What happened and how did you end up dealing with the stress?

I've been irritated from managing a community but never stressed out. I have real life issues that are more worthy of stressing out over. A forum on the internet can't do that to me. Like I said though, I have been irritated by certain things. For example, my last forum HCNET. My staffed pretty much pooped out on me and some of it was my fault for not taking action earlier because they were friends but it irritated me to a point where I didn't feel like keeping the community going. There's no harsh feelings or anything towards the staff it just sucked to see all of my investments go to waste. I learned to choose staff more carefully though.

I wouldn't say that I have been stressed out, but I have been disappointed. I was very disappointed when I watched 4 months of work go to waste. It taught me a lesson on how not to run a community.

Yes it can be stressful, anyone that says it's not need to try running big communities with demanding users, and the constant threat of spammers. Then see how it feels to be stressed

Right, because nobody else in the world is entitled to stress because you ran a forum for 11 years.
    lol

The only time I stressed out was when I was running a successful advertising forum. There was too many members issues, feuding with other forums, staff turnover, etc etc etc..
My new forum has been smooth sailing.

No you mis-interpreted my post, what I was saying is people need trry running it for longer that a few months before moaning about stress, the first few months are the most enjoyable.....

Tell me about it, its very stressful when running a forum within the webmaster niche. So many things to get stressed about, such as competitors and others which you have already mentioned. But at the end of the day I love what I do so I can tolerate it.

I get a little annoyed quite often with MySQL issues, tables locking or something. I deal with it by fixing it.

Sounds frustrating, can be a host related issue though. You should check up with your host.

I don't pay for support from them. It's due to many SQL queries, optimizations are required often.
