What is your definition of SPAM? Oviously the basic rule usually is: Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages, but what sort of messages do you class as these, and why?

I find spam posts to be posts that don't promote appropriate and interesting discussions within the forum. Also, I find posts that have completely unreadable spelling and grammar to be spam.

    SPAM:
A reply that doesnt add much to a discussion
    One word replies
    Shameless advertising
    Trolling
    Off Topic

I could go on and on lol.

that's true, lol but I just go by the basic rule: if it's stupid, completely pointless, extremely annoying and some form of message, then it's SPAM, and has to go :giggle:

I agree with that letter-for-letter definition of SPAM. The way I see, I consider a post as spam when it has no value at all -- in most cases out of topic and are just posted to brazenly promote something. Aside from this, posts that are made up of two to three words like "thanks" or "thanks a lot" can also be classified as spam. I am not saying there is something wrong with saying "thanks" but at least explain why you are saying thanks to the original post.

Yea I agree, posts like those are very annoying. As you said I would atleast expect them to explain why they are thankful, and not just reply with "thx" or "thanks". By the way thats why its good to have a thanks or likes mod.
