It was either them or Cirtex, because I remember the administrator in question thankfully having a backup (I was almost as active on that forum then as I am here now) and not only that, but because of the CPU swallow up, members kept getting randomly banned, and I remember being one of the ones randomly banned, because I was going to go on the forum to bump up my advert topic and perhaps post around elsewhere, and I saw the message that I'd been banned. To solve this problem so that innocent members wouldn't commence getting banned, the admin finally moved to another host (HawkHost if memory serves me right) and we had no more random banning problems. I remember when I was banned from that forum and I'm like, "uh, it would've been nice to have recieved an email as to why I was banned, thank you!" I was so pissed at not receiving an explanation straight off that I almost stopped going to that forum, even though I enjoyed being there. I found out later that the admin was restoring the site; therefore he hadn't had a chance to explain why members were randomly being banned without being infracted first. I guess the morale to this story is to chose your host wisely, otherwise you'll have far more problems than you like, and you'll have a good chunk of your memberbase pissed at you. I also learned this lesson the hard way when I was with Forumotion and we had downtime every weekend!

Cirtex are just as trigger happy, especially with their firewall...

Yea their site http://www.cirtexhosting.com/ looks pretty reliable but I doubt their service is. What exactly does the firewall do? Randomly block people at times?

Yes it does just that, usually for "too many connections" which is absolute bull crap

Haha I hate when hosts do that.. I remember my days when I was with 000webhost it does that too but its free so thats normal, but for paidhosting to do that is pretty sad.

I am with Tyreus, a Post2Host. I find their speed can fluctuate a bit, most of the time however it is quit fast. I can't remember my plan, but I think I get 3GB space and 30GB bandwidth for 15 posts a month.

Currently a free host, 000WebHost. But not for long. I'm using it now because 1) I don't run an actual website, and 2) It does have cPanel. I run away from hosts, free/paid, if they don't have cPanel, or at least DirectAdmin.

Yeah, I know, they are slow as heck. I only took them for now as it was fast and I'm familiar with Cpanel. Though I don't have a forum either. It's just where I put my web apps for sell for demo purposes. (Still should probably change fast as people at all interested may be turned away due to the lagging of the server)

Well the panel they use isn't cpanel but its a custom control panel they made, and oh I see

Wow. You just hit me with a cue, I have had a brain crap out. I signed up for 000WebHost about 5 days ago, and yes your right, they do not have cPanel like they seem to claim (not free accounts anyway.) After finding this out the hard way (creating an account) I quickly did a search and found another free host. It's x10.mx.... I don't see how I forgot about that. I guess being that I haven't done much with it (as it's not permanent) I haven't put much thought into it.

    Anyway,
x10.mx has cPanel, 000WebHost does not and is one reason I ran. x10.mx is much better than that other crap, but is still being slow for me.

Sorry for the confusion. Wow lol.

If anyone wants any help to escape 000webhost, just drop me a PM and I'll make you guys an offer ;)

When I tried X10 hosting, at the time they were not allowing wordpress to be run, so that host went out of the window too :(

Wow really, why would they do that? There are far more bloggers than forumers and I would think people would use them to host WordPress blogs.

I used to run on Diamond Hostings because I was on a heavily discounted package because I was staff there and I knew the owner, then they closed up. Empire Hostings bought them over and they said, whatever you were paying, you can keep it at that so I'm still on 1$/year hosting :D Also with loads and loads of diskspace and bandwidth.

Hawk Host only because they had a 50% off coupon when I joined up. No other forums I knew used them but now they all seem to use HH. Why? Because they are a quality host.
