Nice points. I have read nothing but good things from people who have converted from vB to xF.

One software I think is overrated (or it used to be anyway) is Zetaboards. I've used them once and I'd never use them again. From an admins point of view, there were plenty of broken links, I myself got complaints that people weren't receiving PM or email notifications (or in severe cases, both!) and I just downright hated it. Wasn't worth the hassle and I ended up closing the forum in the end and leaving. Have those patches of problems been fixed, I don't know. I'm not too curious to find out either.

I heard you have to upgrade your Zetboards forum to premium to be able to use the email notifications for pms or something like that which should be free, otherwise you dont have it. The errors you had could have been a problem on your part, you never know.

Now THAT is pathetic. I mean, it makes sense to an extent, but to have to upgrade just to use the tiniest privileges like that? I mean, this is something that's DEFAULT on other forum softwares for crying out loud. You don't have to upgrade phpBB or any other software to be able to receive notifications for when someone sends you a PM or email! Wow, I'm glad I left that host when I did, then!

Yea it is pathetic, they are charging you for something thats a default feature on most. Its pretty low of them to be honest. But I still think they are a good host.

Free-wise, phpBB is completely overrated. As another person said, quite a few core features are missing.
Paid-wise, vBulletin is a bit overrated as it used to be the de facto standard. It'll take a complete change of hands to get vBulletin back to where it was.

Yep.. IB completely ruined vBulletin, it was best with Jelsoft. I dont see them fully recovering ever unless they really get things together which they aren't.

I actually prefer vBulletin over phpBB, and find the plugins better, and there is no hard work needed when installing mods on vb, unlike phpbb.

I am use to the vB ACP, but yea I hate it as well.

While I agree with that 90% of your posts have been one word and three words replies not adding much to our discussions which can be considered a type of spam.

vBulletin 4 is still great software, and there's still plenty of people using it. I've submitted tickets to vBulletin's support team, and got the help that I needed. Vb 4 also has new plugins - that were developed like @mentions and things like that, that makes it easier for people to chat with one another.

Well, having license for 3 of the major forum softwares UBB, Vb and Xenforo I would have to disagree. But that said, forum software is like cars, not everyone buys the same make and model.

While I agree with you about the comparison to cars, UBB is not one of the major forum software, the major ones would be IPB, Xenforo, and vBulletin.

UBB is a commercial grade forum software....and is used mostly by businesses and such. I would not include Xenforo in the top though most likely closer to the bottom I have it and I do not see what all the fuss is about cause I am not impressed with it at all....IPB is not all that great either have used it as well.
