Whats your thoughts on it? Alot of people are using nulled scripts these days and are using warez hosts to not get shutdown.

I don't like it. I work hard for my money and it doesn't seem fair that people cut corners like that to get stuff illegally.

I don't like it either, If i see a forum using a nulled ipb, vbulletin, ect, i usually contact the developers. On the hand, i use nulled scripts (Not Public) to test it out before i buy it. (Yes i could use a demo, but you can't test out like editing themes, plugins, ect.)

Oh also, using a nulled version on localhost or hidden somewhere, to test a conversion. I wouldn't want to buy a software and find out converting to it would be a horrible decision. (I did a SMF -> vBulletin -> xenforo about 1.5 million posts and about 9000 members. Xenforo beat vbulletin at converting lol)

I can understand your reasoning for using them on a test or demo board but it was still illegal and just encourages the thief to steal more.

Please consider it from the point of view of the person who spent hours/days/weeks/even months putting together a project and depends on the sales from that project as part or all of their income.

I've used open source software like PHPBB my whole time of trying to run a forum. Even though I do that, I am seriously against using nulled forums. But it is hard to tell whether a software someone is using is the real deal or not, though...

I don't get why people do that. It is illegal. You wouldn't drive a stolen car, would you? If you really want it that bad, download some forum framework (or script framework) and develop off of that. Buy a book or go online. Education is free online.

It's one of those things that bugs me, but I know I can more or less do nothing about it. We need to find a way to stop it, and because of these people, the prices of many softwares go up when there shouldn't be a need.

Vbulletin prohibits their script usage for illegal sites. So when they have to use it illegally, even if they purchase, they go for nulled one.

Normally i dislike nulled scripts and i had never tried it (Even in a localhost). I just tried vbulletin(legal one) in one of my friend's forum to learn it.
I prefer using MyBB as i get everything i want from it.

I maybe buying XF in future, but not going to happen until i get satisfied with their security.

Yes but you can test drive the car, with a car salesmen person there.

I would never use a nulled script online, like Elizabeth said, They did work hours, days, ect on it, But i would rather test it out before buying it especially if it's 100+ dollars.

I realize that will take time. But consider this, unlike most new forum software, XenForo had a boost in recognition factor thanks to IB/vB's stunt. So hackers knew about the software early on.

And I don't know how many have gone to actually look at the videos on the software but you can find great info here: http://xenforo.com/community/forums/have-you-seen/ with the one on Cleaning Up Spam here

Guess I'll posts my replies from another forum..

Well Ive never actually reported a board but I have the links handy for those who wish to use them.
Using a nulled forum shows a lack of dedication and poor administration qualities. If the board does get shut down, there is nobody to blame except the person who installed the nulled software on the server in the 1st place. Try to rationalize it and place the blame on the whistle blowers or the software's piracy staff if you want but that does not make it any less the admin's fault.

If someone was serious about their forum they would not put their forum in a situation where legal actions could take it down in a quickness. There is plenty of free alternatives like phpbb, smf, mybb, etc..

Well written, true. My favorite part "If someone was serious about their forum they would not put their forum in a situation where legal actions could take it down in a quickness." That is very much the truth.
