    I make an introduction
Then upload an avatar, and then add a signature. But only if I like the forum.

Go through my profile (avatar, signature, etc. if settings are enabled), and then post an introduction thread :)

I hate it when some forums require you to have a posts to use signatures.

I think it's a good spam countermeasure when you block things like that, because the clever spam bots make posts like: Hi I'm new, and their crap is then in their signature instead

Usually, I would make an introduction, change the email/notices settings and add an avatar (if Gravatar isn't pre-loaded) and a signature.

thats a very nice question. all the forums should have a thread like that as an introduction. what i do when i first join a forum is to read all the rules and regulations, do's and dont's etc. then next thing is the editing of the profile.

yeah master, most of the forumers are like that. as for me, i dont want to break any rules or guidelines that the forums are implementing. in that way, i know will be a good member of such forum.

I normally just jump right into the discussion and bypass the whole introduction thing (like I'm doing right now). Adding my avatar and signature comes after that.

I usually surf through the forum and make a few posts. Then, I make an introduction post. :D
