Using different passwords is one of the safest things you can do to protect your forum... me, I use the same password on forums I dont care about. But on my own forums I always use different very secure passes.

Depending on what the password is for will depend on what password I use so I have a collection of passwords that I use on things.

That's me as well. if it's a site I don't really care for, or if I'm only there for a post exchange, etc, then I'll use the same passwords. But now days, if it's a site I enjoy being on and I don't want anything happening to my account, then I use different passwords. I like to use the password generator site since I suck at coming up with my own passwords.

You don't have to apologize, Mr. Joker, that's actually a good thing to do and what a person probably SHOULD be doing to keep their account being compromised. So there was no need to apologize for that.

Changing your passwords regularly is probably the most safest thing you can do, I just sometimes find it annoying, especially if your told to constantly keep changing it every other day or week, etc.

Agreed. I would just rather have it in the guidelines kind of as a friendly reminder that if you don't want your account compromised, you should change your passwords every so often. I would never go around bugging people to change their passwords every day. That's just wrong in my opinion.

I used to have different passwords for each of the sites i visit actively, and i do have different passwords for email accounts, bank login, paypal, etc. I remember about 25+ passwords currently.

But as kaiser said, i use same password for the sites i don't care about.
And for an info, i use an unique password for AdminBB. Lol.

I tested my very secure password I use with paypal, steam etc, on a brute force calculator and it says it would take 7 million years to crack, and i'm pretty secure running linux, I know there are still viruses for it but not nearly as many as windows

Publishing your passwords habits on a public forum is probably one of the more insecure things you can do. Be careful what you say. (I do use different passwords for each website, though)

If you're in to password security, this is definitely worth a read:

I do it on boards I sign up for the long run on but I usually have a single password for quick post exchange boards.

I've got a ton of different passwords... The more important, the often they change. I've got more than enough to use all attempts on most forums 10 times lol.

Yes, I rarely do change it. It's kinda hard for me to remember anything else. I use one password for most if not ALL my forums. Emails is a different story though.
