Most sites have VIP members, and each are treated differently. So I was curious, what sort of perks do you offer your VIP members, how do you attract them? With my site, we have a Lifetime ($9.99) and Premium ($4.99) memberships. VIP's get bigger/animated Avy's Signature images enabled Custom user titles VIP section Various fantasy leagues Postbit images Various contests Live streams to fights/shows I'm probably missing some. But how do you have your perk packages set up?
My VIP (Premium Member) package consists of the following: An increased amount of storage for private messages Ability to upload larger avatars and profile pictures Ability to set a custom user title Bolded username Access to a private forum for the premium usergroup Unlike most, I do not charge for such a membership. Instead, members must maintain a certain post count on a monthly basis.
You don't need to. Which reminds me, how about that impossible-to-beat hosting provider? I think that is where we left off! "Dedicated server, please!"
Here are the perks that we offer: larger profile pictures increased private message storage (500) enhanced PM features navy colored username your account listed under the Premium Member section on the forum leaders page custom user title reduced signature restrictions set self to invisibility mode
Special Rank Image Name appears in a certain color An e-mail address @setsoudesign.com Premium member only resources Private forum for Donors and Premium Members Only You get all this for a monthly fee of $5 dollars, six months for $10 and a year for just $15...
My +VIP Members get to view the board when it's offline, bypass the flood control, and they have a special place where only they can talk. Their color is also different. There are many ways to become a +VIP Member.
I don't really see any advantage to doing this. The only time in which I turn the board offline is for maintenance purposes - this is not exactly "fun" for the members.
Yeah, I don't understand the 'seeing the board while offline' perk. When my board is offline, it's because there is a reason - either I'm doing maintenance, an upgrade, or some other intensive process with the database; I wouldn't want members online during this time.
Well, it could be fun to see the changes before others; if there are any cosmetic changes, any way. Meaning, blatant changes. I'd find it cool to see changes before everyone else. And she probably does it by making an intranet, maybe?
I was referring to database and structural changes - things that should be done when the database isn't being modified (i.e. threads and posts being submitted, PMs exchanged, etc.).
