Most sites have VIP members, and each are treated differently.

So I was curious, what sort of perks do you offer your VIP members, how do you attract them?

With my site, we have a Lifetime ($9.99) and Premium ($4.99) memberships.

    VIP's get bigger/animated Avy's
    Signature images enabled
    Custom user titles
    VIP section
    Various fantasy leagues
    Postbit images
    Various contests
    Live streams to fights/shows

    I'm probably missing some.

But how do you have your perk packages set up?

My VIP (Premium Member) package consists of the following:
    • An increased amount of storage for private messages
    • Ability to upload larger avatars and profile pictures
    • Ability to set a custom user title
    • Bolded username
    • Access to a private forum for the premium usergroup
Unlike most, I do not charge for such a membership. Instead, members must maintain a certain post count on a monthly basis.

    You don't need to. ;)

Which reminds me, how about that impossible-to-beat hosting provider? I think that is where we left off! "Dedicated server, please!"

Oh yes, we must talk about that! That'll be the next thing to discuss. :D

My +VIP Members get to view the board when it's offline, bypass the flood control, and they have a special place where only they can talk. Their color is also different. There are many ways to become a +VIP Member.

Now that is interesting! I've never heard of that being done before.

Just when I thought I was perfect. :p

Me neither! I wonder how they like that.

I don't really see any advantage to doing this. The only time in which I turn the board offline is for maintenance purposes - this is not exactly "fun" for the members.

    Nope, not at all.

Uhh, as Chris said only for maintenance purposes... o.รด What is fun on seeing a board offline???

Yeah, I don't understand the 'seeing the board while offline' perk. When my board is offline, it's because there is a reason - either I'm doing maintenance, an upgrade, or some other intensive process with the database; I wouldn't want members online during this time.

Well, it could be fun to see the changes before others; if there are any cosmetic changes, any way. Meaning, blatant changes.

I'd find it cool to see changes before everyone else.

And she probably does it by making an intranet, maybe?

I was referring to database and structural changes - things that should be done when the database isn't being modified (i.e. threads and posts being submitted, PMs exchanged, etc.).

    Ah okay.

That could be fun to some, too. :unhunh:
