I think it would be pretty cool if we spotlighted a community every once in a while. Not a board of the month or anything like that.. though that's an option I suppose.. everyone seems to do BOTM these days. It wouldn't even have to be an AA member's site. Just a cool community that we've seen and is notable for one reason or another. For instance I'd spot light this community: DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - Software Programming / Web Development and Technical Support it's so customized, wonderfully customized at that, you wouldn't even know it's running vBulletin unless you were very familiar with vB's guts. -Dan
I agree, a site of the month or occasional "Community Spotlight" would be cool... With "Community Spotlight" though, I imagine more than one community will be appointed. And some rewards can even be presented. We can chime in to help give those rewards.
This is something I have thought about (more-so along the lines of a Board of the Month). We do have what you could consider a spotlight - the featured community. The link and a short description of the forum is displayed on the sidebar on both the forumhome and the blog. All it takes for a chance to be featured is to submit your (or any) forum in the Community Advertising section: Community Advertising & Reviews I think it can be a full-blown ordeal when we have a larger community. For now though, I like what we have. Further suggestions are certainly welcome and I will still be sure to confer with the rest of the team.
Sounds like a plan, Nick - thanks! Also, if this is implemented sooner than later, will users be able to sponsor rewards? Whether it is money or otherwise, would it be allowed?
Tom, such a system would require extensive and careful planning. At this time, I cannot say what will or will not be an opportunity or accepted. I can assure you, however, that every suggestion and idea put forth will be considered and evaluated as to its suitability for the community.
