I've been looking around for profile design examples (Actual displayed information, not options), as I'm going to be re-designing my vBulletin profiles for one of my sites, and the default 3.8 design is atrocious. I'm looking for something thats rather info-centric (Its for a game server, and we're displaying information from the game database to the site, and theres a lot of information we'll want to display). Rabies's Profile - MyAnimeList.net That profile page is similar to what I'm thinking of designing, but I'm looking for any more possible examples anyone knows of.
Desu, I haven't seen any recent examples of 'different' profiles. But, there are a few modifications that I've seen on vB.org so maybe you can get some examples from folks posting in these threads.... Background Image Surrounding Whole Profile - vBulletin.org Forum Profile Welcome Message - Users can add a message at the top of their profile - vBulletin.org Forum Twitter Profile 1.0 (displays Twitter on a member's profile page) - vBulletin.org Forum About Me Section Above Profile Comments - vBulletin.org Forum PS - Ads In Profile (Right Side Block) - vBulletin.org Forum Profile blocks aligned to the left - vBulletin.org Forum AJAX - Mouseover Profile Preview - vBulletin.org Forum [AJAX/vBOptimise] vB Profile Ratings 1.0.0 - vBulletin.org Forum Postbit Profile Look - vBulletin.org Forum MySpace 2.0 Profile System - vBulletin.org Forum Profile template - Clean and Simple - vBulletin.org Forum Friends and/or Buddies on Profile - vBulletin.org Forum Rounded avatars, profile pictures and attachment thumbnails - vBulletin.org Forum Profile Update - myspace/facebook layout - vBulletin.org Forum Customize Profile to header -- (navbar) - vBulletin.org Forum Profile Privacy - vBulletin.org Forum Alternative Profile Page - vBulletin.org Forum .....maybe you can pick up some tips and tricks to make your profiles customized. Good luck and let us see what you do!
I'm actually not looking at using the default vBulletin design at all. I'm looking more for just inspiration on how I should go about designing a whole new profile.
Exactly....so, that's why I mentioned in my post to take a look through the threads because there are folks that have customized their profile layouts and you can get some ideas or be inspired by their work. Good luck with it.
I'm actually looking for OTHER software profiles, other than the average forum. The design is for a game server, and we're completely re-designing the profile to display various data from the server, which requires a lot of space optimization. Because of how limited I am with the vB3 profile (Especially tabs), I have to re-create it from scratch, and I want to look at various profiles so I can get an idea of what I should base it off of.
Ah, I see. Why not then look into some social networking scripts and see what they offer in the way of profiles? That might be where you get some good ideas. I'd go to Google and search for 'social networking software' or 'social networking scripts' and have a look.
The only one that I really considered (I didn't look at many), was facebook, but I wanted to do something a bit different I think.
Here are some social networking profile pages that I just did a quick search on Google for..... ELGG: The Elgg Community: superalex MAHARA: Nigel - Mahara ePortfolio System XOOPS: All about Mazarin :: XOOPS CMS (Content Management System) PHPizabi: PHPizabi - Create Worlds Dolphin: vidsync: video audio sync BuddyPress: Test Drive BuddyPress | windhamdavid | Activity Does that help?
Nick, this is the 2nd time within this same thread that a quick reply has posted twice. I only clicked submit once though. May want to keep an eye on that.
This is one of the best profile renditions of vBulletin I've seen: Yo Photographer - View Profile: Azz
I have to agree, and it works well for that site. I'm probably going to do something like I posted in the first post, I just have to get around to drawing out my ideas exactly, and than starting a mockup for it.
Wow, I had never seen that site before. Great work on the profiles and I really like the different layout of the threads! Help! I think my lens is broken The forumhome looks cool as well. Great work by that owner!
It's Azz, known as Razasharp here and within the vB community. He does a wonderful job of customizing his vBulletin forums (which he has a handful of). Here's another great one of his: GameSlurp! Including PS3 Forums, 360 Forums, Wii Forums & PC Forums!
