So over the past few weeks before getting maxmind ive came across a load of lost cash due to paypal charge-backs and credit card frauding from buyers. Ive become smart lemme know what you think of this, basically what im doing now is after my maxmind verification im taking the initiative to personally verify every client who goes through my site with the following.

I think you will put people off, I am not going to photocopy any card and put it on the internet ever!!! there must be a better professional solution to checking the id of a customer.

I agree with @Wonko - it will put people off - so I would not do this. But its up to you.

I have no idea about maxmind but if they fail it then don't except them as a customer would be the solution I would go for.

Yea that's what im going to go with ive put them to action about 10 times now 3 customers filled them out and faxed to me and some dis approved and I just did not sell them any products so im guessing ill implement a system that works for my company and is a bit less aggressive to customers.

Never in a million years have I ever photocopied my ID or CC to get hosting. and I never will, nor will anyone with .02 braincells. You need to find a different solution, rather than punishing all potential and future customers (and yourself with the extra work).

How you're losing your paypal cases are beyond me, Hosting is an intangible item which isn't covered by paypal.

Good luck on that one. Nobody in their right mind is going to photocopy their debit/credit card that list their bank account number on it, name, plus card number and upload it to a forum.

That's the point its not a forum its a business, also I have found a pretty good security system that should fix in place of it for now.

This is my opinion as well. You're going to scare everyone off. Asking for a photocopy of a credit card is bad practice because how am I suppose to know how you are going to use it. You could be a part time web host and a full time identity thief for all I know. This could be your front for phishing. Basically if I saw that I would discount your site as a scam immediately.

Also you are strongly advised to report this kind of web activity to ISP and they will make official claim for you......

Or just report it to the FBI yourself. It's going to get to them either way.

To the OP....you do know something like this would go to the FBI right? Not the police....the FBI.

Even if you have good intentions...you are setting yourself up big time for legal and civil problems!

Why not set up an account with a payment processor. It's easy and there are hundreds of good ones. Even most of the addon makers use some sort of payment processing service as well as Paypal.

This is correct. You should look into it.
