I can't remember when I moved to them... maybe 2002? 2004? It was a good long time ago, anyway.

The company was purchased a few years ago and I won't deny I was worried it might go downhill, but to my surprise if anything it got better.

Really, there's no affiliate link in these posts and I'm not going to benefit in any way personally, but if you unhappy with your current hosting, seriously consider ASO.

Honestly, you know what hosting company I think should be mentioned here?

    MDD Hosting.

Bar none, I'd say this is one of the best hosting companies I've seen in a long time, and pretty much everyone I've sent to them/contacted who uses them is satisfied with their services. The support's both good (as in they actually step in and fix some client issues) and fast, the downtime is pretty much minimal (I don't think my site's been down for months/years now) and honestly, I'd say it could well be better than A Small Orange in many ways.

I'll state up front I have never heard of or used MDD. But on what do you base your statement that MDD is better than ASO in many ways?

+1 for MDD. I forget who originally referred me to them but I've been with Mike on and off for a couple years now. I currently have a reseller account with MDD. Support is awesome. Pricing is decent. The only downside is their disc space quotas are relatively small vs price. Their VPS offerings are just out of the questions price vs disc space wise.

I had a VPS with ASO for a brief time while they were really popular. I don't recall what drove me away but something made me unhappy to move.

My experience, as well as that of other people. Used them for about the last two or so years now, and they've been absolutely perfect in that time frame. Other feedback is positive too:

I can also vouch that you get exactly what you pay for, since out of about 700 GB bandwidth a month, my sites regularly use about 500 GB of it and are never suspended, pretty much never go down and never get into trouble with the hosting provider. Heck, I used 90% of this month's bandwidth (about 600GB worth) recently, and apart from a message saying 'you've used 90% of your bandwidth allowance', no problems have resulted.

man... I need to figure out how to turn the required moderation setting off on this section.
It's grown a bit from what it was originally intended for.
I'll do some digging but that's why your post are being moderated here for those of you who have asked

That may be an answer to why you like MDD.

It's not an answer to why you think they're better than ASO.

Wow that's a very impressive list! Now I'm worried I won't have enough time to check those sites. I just don't know where to start!

    Thanks for sharing.
